Hi welcome to Unpaid Rentals, this is just a channel where we like to talk about movies and what makes them so great to us and hopefully everyone else!

A depressed man (Edward Norton) suffering from insomnia meets a strange soap salesman named Tyler Durden (Brad Pitt) and soon finds himself living in his squalid house after his perfect apartment is destroyed. The two bored men form an underground club with strict rules and fight other men who are fed up with their mundane lives. Their perfect partnership frays when Marla (Helena Bonham Carter), a fellow support group crasher, attracts Tyler's attention.

got into one of my favorite bands The Pixies after seeing this movie in theaters when i was 13. i still get goosebumps the way the snare drum crescendos with the buildings blowing up

34:28 none of us do for sure. It could be Cornelius,Rupert or even Travis or Jack perhaps BUT his airline tickets do say Tyler Durdin on them so it could be that's his name.

This was actually a good twist at the time it came out. There have been a lot of copycat plots since, where two people are revealed to be the same person.

If you liked Brad Pitt's performance in this movie you should see him in 12 Monkeys with Bruce Willis. I believe those two actors gave the best performances of their careers in that movie.

If you like David Fincher and haven’t seen The Game, that’s another good one to check out. Glad to see you enjoy this classic. The novel is also great, and different enough that you can enjoy both separately. Another weird movie to check out would be A Scanner Darkly. 👍

@30:30 I'm not a religious person, but I always wonder if the applicants have to wait three days without food or water because it took Jesus three days to resurrect. The applicant is "dead" for three days, and afterwards a "rebirth", killing your old self to become someone new in Tyler's organization. This also happens soon after the chemical burn speech about God. Just food for thought 🤷‍♂️

I was a teenager when this one came out, and I went to the theater after school and saw it with two friends. None of us knew anything about it, and our minds were blown! Same thing happened with The Matrix. 1999 was a good year!

What the narrator has is disassosative identity disorder DID it's not multi personality disorder the difference is DID is linked with autism, I am an autistic with DID now im not sure if i have ever been the leader of a terrorist organization but i saw this opening night at 17 and one thing i do is watch other people's reaction while im watching something and at the reveal the theater lost its mind and im like how did you not know, this is an extreme exaggerations of what DID is but it is a real disorder and most people will never know they have it it has a full spectrum and yes split has the same thing, Tyler isn't the only figment, Bob definitely is, Marla most likely is, the members of project mayhem could go either way some are real some aren't hard for me to tell everyone of them

Fincher's early work is amazing. Seven, The Game and Fight Club are all masterpieces. After that, he really fell off in my opinion.

I wouldn’t say fell off but I really, REALLY didn’t like the killer I thought it was horrible honestly. Had great moments but it wasn’t up to my standards for his work
