@@Dustandfuzz I did that once when some guy was trying to break my door down and get in in the middle of the night. I woke up to hear him banging on the door and yelling help me, help me! And I had no clue what was going on, but figured it sounded bad either for him or for me. I grabbed the phone so I'd be ready to call, and asked him what he needed. He told me to let him in. What is someone like that even thinking? 😂 I told him I'm calling the police to come help him. He kept banging on the door and said, "Don't do that Ma'am. Let me in." I told him the police are on their way to help him.

Get away. Then phone cops to check the area where they were approached. Never ever ! put yourself in danger. Just not worth it. Ladies, girls, BE AWARE OF RISKS, Nowhere is safe. A couple of self defence classes would be an advantage too. You only get one chance at life, and even the most gentlemanly male could have malice aforethought.

Unfortunately, they were already in the car. Granted, they got out and got back in with this case, but I agree... normally don't get in the car...even if they have a gun pointed at you. If they try to shoot you, it will bring attention to them. If they have a knife, you may get injured trying to get away, but that's better than anything else that could happen to you. The thing that's weird is that neither of them tried to get away in this case to get help. I guess they were afraid to leave each other alone with the guy, but IMO, they should have. I think the one left alone would have understood.

I agree! This crime occurred in 1971 - not the 80's as depicted in the film - so they didn't do things like that back then. At least now, they can admit a victim under a different name, so they won't even show up in hospital records if someone looked them up.

After catching, prosecuting, and finding them guilty - beyond doubt... What a waste of energy, finances and time; to then let them out to go and murder again.

In fact I’m not going to lie, I’d be pretty upset if you didn’t because it allows them to treat another victim like that. They sound like potential rapist themselves with that attitude. That detective can do all the talking he wants to act tough. Women don't have the power to overtake a guy. These two women were trying to protect the other one from being killed. So they obeyed.

He had a knife on her cousins throat. Never, never put the car window down for a stranger. At most, crack it just enough to hear through. Better yet, just drive away. I've learned over the years to always lock up and start the car as soon as I get in. At least have the key in the ignition if sitting in the car waiting for somebody.

Their best chance at escaping was when he drove back to town. When someone's driving with two people in the front seat, even armed with a knife, they could had caused him to wreck his car. The alternative, complying, was a fatal mistake anyways. You are extremely vulnerable when driving.

Exactly!! They could have. IDC if you're male or female, you never, NEVER sit in a vehicle with doors unlocked anywhere. Not even in front of your house! Always be aware of your surroundings. Don't ever walk through a parking lot or garage talking or texting on a cell phone. You make yourself an easy target! It doesn't matter who you're talking to they can't do a damn thing to help you If the actress who played Charlotte, the cousin of Nancy really was acting like the real person acted in real life, I can't even take up for her. She had it coming and got what she deserved!! I used to be naive and $+upid!! Growing in a country rural area all my life. Then I had to move to Columbus Ohio in 2013. A complete cultural shock. I met this guy who treated me like sh1t but saved my life at the same time. He showed me how to act, what to look for, how to look, how to act, how to talk, how not to talk If I hadn't have met him. Somebody would have ki||Ed me. I always made sure to have my doors locked and windows up. Driving with windows down will get you in trouble too. I had more than I can count try to get me to roll down the window or open the door. I also had 2 different people, groups, whatever grab my back door at night and try to open it of a night after 11 pm. Once at a red light and once at stop sign. I took off. I'm pretty sure I drug the first one but I kept going

I wouldn't want the weight of responsibility. I also think this approach doesn't rely on solid facts, and in some cases just mitigation, but on the personal outlook of the victim. This isn't an attitude of justice.

Sometimes they change those things to protect victims or make it more modern with no date given at all.

I think we have to forgive even when a person who wronged us never asks for forgiveness. The example is Jesus on the cross. Forgive them Father for they don’t know what they are doing. I’m not saying justice shouldn’t be carried out for the good and safety of the public or that forgiveness is quick and easy. You don’t even need to go see the person and tell them. In your heart you have to realize the criminal is sick in his soul to do the things he has done and give up on your resentment. Once you forgive a burden is taken off of you. It gives you a better life.

This is the real world, this violence does exist and this is a true story. Evil disturbed psychopaths don't need ideas from movies. How many cold case files are still un-solved from cases like this. What about the victims and their families? Why isn't the law on their side? He should have been put in solidarity confinement in a maximum security prison in the 1st place so he can't escape.
