@@StreetStoriesEnt Mike Tyson was smaller than most heavyweights, but size shouldn't matter. Bivol was simply the superior boxer. Saul should stay in middleweight/super middleweight.
Glad it was Canelo who introduced me to Bivol, actually 11 months later I'm still learning about him. This was such a clean fight for this guy, skillfully and from what I see, mentally strong mind as well.
Fortunately Canelo's household name got Bivol noticed on the map. Unfortunately boxing has to happen this way. Bivol was a two time world amateur boxing champion with over 250 wins and was undefeated as a pro 19-0. We would not have even paid much attention to him if it wasn't for this fight.
Rarely do you see fighters like Bivol nowadays. Not cocky, just being humble and patient, working his way from round to round. He's smart, does not let his ego take the better off him, and is disciplined to not expose himself to too much danger. Truly deserved. And what happened to Canelo? Perhaps the long success has gotten to his head. Really seemed pretty weak today. Nearly no head movement at all.
Canelo couldn't really figure Bivol out, you can see he's closed up in his guard pretty much the entire fight. When Canelo is comfortable with his opponent, his hand are down and his head goes like ↗️➡️↘️⬇️↙️⬅️↖️↕️↔️⬆️↩️↪️⤴️⤵️🔃🔄🔙🔛🔝🔚🔜
Like Dmitry Bivol said weeks ago, “Saul Canelo Alvarez isn’t invincible, he lost. he’s human like the rest of us.” Great job by Bivol did an absolute amazing job proving doubters wrong. Respect well earned win.
still blows my mind that the judges gave canelo 5 rounds. if he legit won more than 4 rounds he would of gotten the win with these judges. if anyone is being honest with themselves. canelo won 3 rounds max. im just glad bivol made it that decisive cause the fix was in.
RIP MEXICAN BOXING, all their champions lost. Canelo, Oscar Valdez, Brandon Figueroa, Julio Martinez, Jose Ramirez, Miguel Berchelt, Leo Santa Cruz, Jojo Diaz, Elwin Soto, etc
Bivol's defense skills and foot steps are so perfect. It is super hard to counter punch him. It looks like spears come in and out from the moving tank.
This was just beautiful to watch. He caught him off beat, didn’t play Canelos games and had an unbreakable guard plus predator eye and reflexes. A masterclass.
I don't really follow boxing alot but how is it unanimously Bivol? I watched the fight live and now the highlights, Canelo seem to be the aggressor and more active throughout the fight. Bivol looks like his on high guard 24/7 and occasionally countering his shots. Im surprised stats had bivol outlanding and throwing canelo?
Bivol really showed us today that if you stay true and believe in yourself, you can accomplish anything! Well done mate... Very excited for the rematch!!
I keep coming back to this fight it's amazing. Bivol throws the biggest advantage he has (his reach) out the window and gets in Canelo's face at 6:15 and still outboxes him. A true masterclass in boxing.
@@agustinjr.enriquez6238 bro got so outboxed that he turned into a wrestler then wanted to slam him 😂. Respect to both fighter though they’re warriors.
I didn't think Canelo won a round in this fight. The judges scored it close. Bivol won, of course, but the judges really really wanted to give it to Canelo. I don't think Canelo landed more than 50 punches the entire fight
He's got an elegant boxing style. An ideal boxing, just like bivol said canelo needs to throw jabs, bivol got stronger again in his last fight, more aggressive but the calmness is still there he got more aggressive but not reckless. Gotta watch him make his own legacy
I thought the same when they read the score cards. I thought for a split second they were going to do bivel how they did GGG in the first fight of the trilogy vs canelo
And your scorecard is being generous to Canelo. It's an actual joke. Like if I showed this to someone and then told them the judges scorecards - they would laugh.
I had the exact same score!! The fact that the judges gave the first 4 rounds to Canelo is disgusting all 3 of them no matter what happened in the ring gave those rounds to canelo
What I like about this guy is that he never give up, even when the odds were against him he kept fight and throwing punches. Truly stunning to watch and what a war between this two champions. 😎👀💪🏾👏🏾
Canelo hasn't been this frustrated since his loss to Mayweather and hasn't been breathing that heavy since his first clash with GGG. Amazing performance from Bivol. Bivol neutralized Canelo's aggressive counter punching to a T and took some of Canelo's best shots.
Shows the weight difference. Canelo had to move up in weight. Bivol cuts down to get to that weight. It’s not really a surprise. Canelo being the smaller man, it was a long shot trying to hurt someone bigger with an impecable defense.
@@juannanez3969 It was a long shot hurting someone bigger, with amazing defense, as you stated. At the same time Bivol had to be perfect all night. Let's be honest Canelo does hit incredibly hard. One punch perfectly timed could have changed the entire fight, but it never happened. That to me makes Bivol amazing for taking this fight and well deserving for his win.
it was his MOVEMENT that was the difference. he is so smooth on his feet. Bivol has great footwork and stays at the right range. all time great perfomance. Nobody is beating bivol
Alot of Canelo fans never heard of Bivol..he has the wba belt for a long time now and has dominated his last 5 or 6 fights..his reflexes are great..if you never heard of him..you dont follow the sport to well..Hats off to Canelo for choosing the hardest fight out there
I first heard of him when he fought Robert Berridge, a kiwi in Russia. Robert has huge power and dimitry ate his punches like it was nothing, that alone I knew Canelo wont be able to hurt him
Do yourself a favor and watch the full fight, those highlights are edited to compensate for Canelo's image & terrible scorecards. So many moments of Bivol brilliance & punching Canelo's head in missing lol
He (Canelo) lost at least 8 rds to 4 to GGG as well (2nd fight). GGG's jab continually moved Canelo's head back or knocked Canelo off center or off the front foot just like Bivol's. But if course, GGG was hit with a lot of flush shots too which didn't happen w Bivol. We need to see Bivol vs GGG at 171 pds for the light heavy title.
@@BigM0neyHustla i don't think hes out of shape at all, its more so he underestimated bivol thinking hes a slow guy, personally for me.. he showed zero fear. Unlike canelo previous opponents, mentality a powerful attribute some have
Let me try ……: canelo was still knocking his head with uppercuts and power shots . You would rather get hit with the punches Bivol threw than the ones canelo threw …. He definitely lost but this is my convincing speech
@@DrRhilTV personally records asides i believe every boxer of a high level have genuine power. Excluding paul brothers there fake and never fought actual boxers, all bout money for them. Anyways i believe in certain style, be realistic here no one standing still to actually take a punch, styles produce different knock out punches, bivol did what anyone else can't make him look human, we can bring up mayweather fighting canelo at early inexperienced age, this canelo was worst scarier
I like at 9:17, Bivol pointed to his bicep and told made a “No” gesture to Canelo. Canelo has been known for beating up fighter’s biceps in a fight so they drop their hand. Great job Bivol.
I love Bivol's footwork here. The way he sits down into his crosses on some of these combos to Canelo's body--sharp, quick hits but with plenty of power behind it, and can you tell because Canelo gets fatigued and frustrated, while Bivol looks like he could fight another 6 rounds no problem.
The first time I ever saw Bivol fight - he was an amateur at the Youth World Boxing Championships in 2008. That year the championships were held in none other than Canelo’s hometown of Guadalajara, Mexico. By pure coincidence - literally, the weekend before that event (Oct. 2008) was the very first time I saw Canelo fight in person. Canelo was headlining at Morongo Casino in SoCal. It was the very first time Canelo fought outside of Mexico. Life’s synchronicities - only one week apart in Oct. 2008 - while an 18 year old Canelo, was already a pro, and fighting for the first time outside of Mexico… Bivol was in Canelo’s hometown of Guadalajara, as a 17 year old amateur - winning a bronze medal. The difference in their paths, from that same time in history - that eventually lead to them fighting, is wild. 👊
what fight were you watching? although i thought Bivol won the smaller fighter showed superior ring generalship the entire fight constantly backed up the bigger guy and only backing up to try to counter, Bivol not once was able to hurt or even stun the much smaller fighter if he showed me anything it was his ability to absorb the punishment Bivol missed way more than the idiot DAZN crew mislead you to believe
The defensive awareness by Bivol is something out of this world. I don’t understand how he shells up protecting the whole body and head but still sees everything clear as day.
@@Tellin08 that was a huge difference. One of the biggest weapon of Canelo is they way he throws his hook. Both the body punch and head punch come from the same position making it almost impossible for opponents to read. Bivol basically completely nullified it as his defensive posture remained the same regardless of what Canelo threw. He was able to block both body and head shot without adjusting because of his head position and defensive posture. One of the most solid defensive displays I've seen in a very long time. Just let Canelo throw and wear himself out them picked his spots to counter
@@amaruvandevu8603 bro I'm a pacquiao fan but stop it. Nobody mentioned pacquiao and pacquiao have nothing to do with this. You're just making people hate pacquiao as a toxic fan.
Hoping this Win gives Bivol some more widespread acclaim. I love seeing INTELLIGENT Fighting and this was a prime example. Bivol doesn't seem to be much of a Finisher which could hurt his stock but neither was Mayweather and Bivols style is a lot more pleasing to watch. He didn't run at all, tactfully retreated to reset when he had to. Beautiful
Notice at 9:14, Canelo comes to Bivol's corner to congratulate him and Bivol gestures to his bruised arm and wags a finger, indicating one of Alvarez's favorite tactics to wear opponents down by battering their arms didn't work this time.
What's crazy is this honestly shows us how great Floyd Mayweather really was. The fact he was the only guy in his true weight class at the time to easily beat Canelo and Canelo has had to go up 5 weight classes to get a fighter that could replicate what floyd did is crazy. Granted Mayweather used his defense more and Bivol was more aggressive and through more punches. The fact it took Canelo moving up 5 weight classes to get someone that could beat him is crazy.
Now, everyone including Canelo himself should see why there are weight classes in boxing. What a performance by Bivol. Kudos to Canelo for taking risks and not being afraid like many fighters today are.
Overrated Canelo finally fought someone his own size and was exposed. Fighting smaller opponents for years will give you a false sense of your boxing skills. Team Canelo needs to consult with Mayweather for advancement of his skills.
This is the first time that i am genuinely inspired by someone saying 'believe in yourself' ! dmitry just earned a fan, love his demeanor very humble nice laid back guy .
Those very last 10 seconds of the fight where Canelo wanted to engage, he realized Bivol was there to bang it out without backing down and Canelo quickly realized he was just gonna take his loss.
Bivol managed to avoid taking damage , timed Canelo’s powershots and countered with fast combinations then straight back to excellent footwork..This guy is the best 175pounder in my book. Respect to Canelo for actually challenging himself.
Very Disciplined Fighter.. no show boating.. no wasted energy... Very efficient and accurate... That was a Clinic, and did it aginst one of the best fighters in this era... Hands down to Bivol... he may not be a Heavy Hitter like GGG but he has that vibe about him... Hope he continues this performance.. very exciting fighter...
@@Angellopez-gb8zc yeah he’s not a knockout artist but there’s a real Thud to his punches that can knock you out with the right shot but if not knock you out for sure strong enough for a fighter to respect.
This fight brings me back to Canelo - Cotto oddly enough where it was easy for me at the time to be a little critical of what Cotto didn’t do in that fight versus Canelo. However, when you look at how Canelo handled future opposition, now looking back, Cotto did tremendously better better than did Smith, Saunders or Plant. Similarly, when you look at how Bivol handled a guy like Zurdo, Canelo did comparatively well. Bivol fought masterfully and if he continues to fight like that against the remaining big names at 175, we might be able to look back at this fight less critically of Canelo when you look at how he lost compared to others.
Legendary fighters uses the jab as a main weapon. Not a set up weapon . Klitschko Mayweather Crawford Usyk Lomachenko GGG ALI They boxed basic textbook jab, and won easily. Canelo had trouble with jabbers, hence cotto!
Bivol is a great boxer. Never watched his fights before, but he’s earned a fan today. Going to watch his past fights and any fights he has moving forward.
@@gregoryingram7561 he used to fight on HBO. He was interviewed by Andre Ward during one of the last HBO boxing match aired. He was a big deal then. It’s just he’s a boring fighter that doesn’t go for KO’s
Tough loss, but the fact that Canelo had to go all the way up to light heavyweight just to find someone who could beat him is pretty badass on its own.
Canelo is more reactive in this fight probably due to the heavier punches from Bivol. There is no shame in losing, only shame in not trying. Congrats to both fighters it was a great fight!
@@jeproksbautista6600 Canelo thought Bivol would be too gassed in the later rounds. Surprise! Bivol tagged up Canelo's face. The Canelo puzzle is SOLVED.
Man, I love Bivol during interview. He is trying his hard to speak in English and he even thank the mexican fans for watching the fight. What a lad. He's just smiling during the interview, I love his energy. Def gonna watch his next fights.
@@TXRangersfanCardCeollector I mean the fight was close in the 1st half. It was after rhe 6/7th round that bivol started winning every round, he separated himself and it made it clear who won. I think Canelo only won like round 9 and it was a close round. I had scored it 8-4 for bivol after I saw it live. I think 9-3 is the most accurate scorecard tho.
He really dominated Canelo. You could tell he was feeling Bivols power. It wasn't as close as they scored it either, that was generous in Canelo's favor.
What i see from this loss is actually incredible.. it literally says sm about how Durable Canelos body and skeletal structure is. It's honestly a testament to how Great Canelo truly is in this sport. He is a freak in a grenade like body to absorb these guys in these weight divisions. Dude Is so compact like iron fr
Been watching him since his win against Felix Valera, i knew he was special ... What i find funny is Canelo fans where talking about Canelo beating Beterbiev lol ... Beterbiev would actually knock Canelo out, ruin him and i believe at this time the mega fight to be made is against him and Bivol and I'll say this right now because Gvozdyk was a masterful technician as well and Beterbiev mauled him, Beterbiev i believe stops him and anyone at 175.
These highlights dont tell the full story of how Canelo was dominated for over 8 rounds. And im a Canelo fan, who loves Bivol for his humility and dedication of the sport!
It wasn’t as wide as many people are acting like it was. Canelo blocked & dodged many punches. Canelo just didn’t let his hands go enough. He was focused on power punches thinking he would hurt him. And got outworked.
Bivol was smart keeping the high guard up most of the time, it blocked most of Canelos left hooks. He used his reach and height advantage well by staying behind the jab and cross. Well done!
@@kongboshi it was like he stopped Canelo from taking out any weapons .... But I felt Canelo didn't hv the same power or the fact that he cudnt land the power punches on him
Impeccable performance from Dmitry Bivol. Showed remarkable discipline, with tight blocking and smart, measured attacks he shaved Canelo down round by round. Props to both of them for delivering a Great fight.
@@MegaUltimateMaster Not really. Canelo held his own but it wasn't enough. Im surprized they had canelo win as many rounds as the cards showed. But the truth is Canelo had some close fights that he had to win by KO and did. That strategy didn't work here.
They should've included round 7 in the highlight. Canelo came rushing in with a right and Bivol responded with a counter punch combo. That was impressive.
@@Brucelee89896 I think they meant his fans were thought a lesson, legit Canelo fans taught he could beat Usyk when he couldn’t even beat a less skilled and smaller version of Usyk (Bivol)
@mllop aeet lol he was never arrogant tf you talkin?? He said it was going to be hard but all you dummies kept saying it was gonna be a walk in the park for Canelo and that he was taking the easy rout fighting bivol lol
Canelo finally met his match in where he couldn't break his opponent. Bivol was ready and put his training to work. Canelo was awesome in challenging himself to go beyond his weight division. Great fight 👏.
@@princeprince9227 how has he been cherry picking my guy? I understand you may not like him, but if his last opponents are cherry picked, I'd like to see what you think about Charlo, Benavidez, and Andrades last opponents, Canelo is at least fighting champions...
What a fking beautiful performance by Dmitry Bivol. He never got tired even though Canelo was expecting him to, and shut down most, if not ALL of Canelos offensive attacks. Well deserved Win for him. 👏👏👏🥊
Spence making his return, Oscar Valdez getting destroyed, Canelo getting destroyed, and kambozos getting destroyed in a few weeks. 2022 has been a great year for boxing! All ducks got cooked 🦆🍳
bivol is such a smart fighter, he figured out canelo's weakness just in the first round, he stated that canelo only threw power punches, and then relax afterwards.
Bivol figure out Canelo biggest weakness and while in interview bivol mentioned Canelo only throw 2heavy punches and he rest. Canelo used same strategy everytime.
EVER SINCE THIS MATCH CANELO VS BIVOL, FOR CANELO HAS NEVER BEEN THE SAME, CANELO LOTS OF PRESTIGE, LOTS OF QUALITY, THE FANS ARE NOT TOO INTERESTED ABOUT CANELO 'S FIGHTS, BIVOL TOOK OVER CANELO. BOXING WINS !!!❤❤❤
Bivol fought a beautiful fight, and props to Canelo for stepping up to the challenge. Bivol was calculated and unafraid, he kept his composure throughout the fight and never really let Canelo gain the confidence he needed to let his hands go. It was a great fight, always is when you have two men in there with so much respect for the sport and as talented as they are. As for a rematch, I’d be interested to see what kind of game plan Canelo would come back with, but if i were his camp, I’d probably just take this one on the chin and move on.
Canelo has no respect for Boxing,he's a Cheater! Just a matter of time till he's exposed for the fraud he is. He might never recover from this loss. He's counted on those drugs to guarantee his win but it failed this time! Once a Fighter like him that has reached those heights, won so many times. They can't cope with losing 100% because the opponent was/is better. It'll make him question everything. He might beat some no names but he'll never win against elite Fighters again!
Well said. I don't think canelo can beat bivol in a rematch imo. Not because of bivol but I just don't see canelo improving his stamina or footwork enough for the rematch. I'm not sure if he has enough time. Obviously, I could be wrong 100% but he's never improved I'm those areas. This is the same strat kovalev and triple g employed but bivol was just more disciplined, stronger and bigger with more stamina than kovalev. Respect to him for taking the risk since he hasn't taken any risk since his triple g fights but bivol fought a masterful fight, it wasn't even close. If I were his team, I'd go back to 160-168 and challenge the remaining b tier fighters like Charlo, benavidez, Andrade etc. He can win with the way he fought last night if he fights those guys.
Canelo chose Bivol because he thought Bivol was the weakest of the champions in this weight class. I imagine Beterbiev would simply obliterate Canelo in the first 3 rounds.
I don't think a rematch would be any different. Canelo would just be twice as mad from losing two times against Bivol. Canelo expected Bivol to gas and then walk through him in the later rounds.
Mayweather didn't run 😂 He stood right in front of Canelo and boxed his ears off. This was a boxing lesson and Canelo failed the test again. Get him another soft touch at 168 so we can say he's great again.
