My son was hit by a drunk driver and had a severe TBI just months ago. He's walking and talking against all odds but is recovering every day. Thank you so very much for posting this...you are an inspiration and I wish you and your loved ones the very best. Thank you again for posting this!

Hi, I had severe tbi too, I spent 2 months in coma and you know I am getting out of it, slowly, but still, your son will get out of the mess too.

It will be a long road to recovery but he has a great start with a solid family behind him. I too suffered a severe TBI over ten years ago.......I have come along way, unfortunately there are still clear challenges. I will say, never accept anything and always fight for more. The first year is where you see the most improvement but even in years after that you still improve, just not as dramatically....stay the course and never give up....prayers

Man this guy makes me realize how bad my TBI could of been. RESPECT MAN! I thought my negative thinking, isolation and headaches where bad. my speech is worse then it was but still not bad. I was in a coma for 3 weeks and in the hospital for a couple months.

Pretty crazy eh, I was in a coma for 3 days from my car accident, looking at these TBI's on youtube makes me realize mine isn't near as bad as it could of been. Same my speech is a bit more monotone then it used to be. Emotions can be all over the chart sometimes like 0-10 in no time whether be sad, mad, happy etc. Meditation helps a lot though.

Pekka Hyysalo, you're right when you say that it's all about the future, not the past. Keep up the struggle and you will ultimately succeed. You have the courage to do this.

Take care of yourself and keep going. Speaking from personal experience, I was hit by an overspeeding car while crossing the road on foot on 8th September '21, I slammed my head on the divider which took 28 stitches to control the bleeding and landed in a Coma for 45 days. Survival chances were pretty low and just my luck that I was infected with Dengue and Pneumonia while still in Coma which forced the doctors to perform tracheostomy which risked muteness too adding to the chances of complete amnesia and paralysis. Today, I can walk and speak good enough considering what happened. I am now about to publish a book and not letting things Stop me. Keep going brother

I had a TBI in 2010 and I'm doing great at the moment I read, exercise, played videogames, and I cook clean meals at home. I was left with several scars, neck, face, belly but I don't even notice them there I feel normal. I've followed Buddhism and I'm much happier I have learned to love myself and accept who I have become. I'm excelling in computer science and I should be done with an AAS degree next Spring. The hardest part about suffering a TBI is that people assume since you look normal on the outside everything in fine on the inside when there is actually a war going on. I'm stranger because of the TBI some of my family are ashamed of me because I don't meet their "normal" expectations.

Pekka, thank you for sharing your story. I know how hard it must have been to share your story and hopefully be inspiration to some. My son suffered a football traumatic brain injury in 8-11-17. We’re working hard in rehab to help him recover. Thank you so much! You’re a big inspiration to my family. We wish you the best!

I was hit by a driver I have no idea how it happened. From what I heard it was around 6:30 in the afternoon and it was raining hard I just remember getting off work and then next thing I remember the third day in the hospital. I don’t remember the wreck or the ride in the ambulance to the hospital or anything like that at all. I was very tired and unfocused but by the fourth day they gave me a walk and it was like the hardest thing to do. I don’t recommend a tbi to anybody. I seriously don’t! I’m recovering fast due to my 23 years of age, still don’t recommend it!
