Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi says his administration has taken a decision to reposition the Gauteng province with a growth and development strategy targeting 2030 committed to accelerated economic recovery and reconstruction. The plan is to fight crime, lawlessness, vandalism, to change living conditions in the townships, among other commitments. Delivering the State of the Province (SOPA) address yesterday, Lesufi said a budget increase from R750 million to multibillion rands will be allocated in the next three years to fight crime. Helicopters and drones, patrol cars allocated for hostels, e-panic buttons for the public, a twenty-four-hour anti land invasion response are some of the changes awaiting Gauteng. Lesufi also said funds will be allocated to support township businesses to claim back the spaza shops and to support township businesses. Someone may be saying, well, we have heard it all before, but Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi is here in studio to tell us how will this work.
