Not banned but reworked. Look at China. They have no eminent domain laws and large projects are either more costly (bribing people to move) or made a mess of (5 lane highway in either direction but a house sits in the middle of) There will always be one side or the other not happy. We need to find balance.
$10?! How is that fair compensation?! The government has no right without giving proper compensation, that's the only thing that gives them that right in the first place!!!
As a land owner, that’s a line in the sand for me. My land feeds my family. I won’t fight it in court. They will get one letter that says “no”. I’d be in a treestand if and when they’d show up.
@@timarm64I don't disagree with you but I also think the slimy way the town and it's leadership has conducted itself is also very wrong. There's a lot more to the story than just the lawyer should have known bs.
WATE 6 are you aware of what is going on in Pigeon Forge. They have declared imminent domain on a property, demolished it on July 1, yet the family who owns it has not received a penny and still holds the mortgage to a now demolished house. The mayor watched this family renovate for seven months knowing they were going to change the route of a road and take the house. The Mayor told the family that he had no moral obligation to tell them. Please help this devastated family.
RU-vid Pigeon Forge Imminent Domain where the Mother and son have been telling their story and pleading for help. If it happened to them it can happen to you.
@@ThatDamnPandaKaimodern wars are no longer fought with armies, uniforms, or conventional weapons for that matter. They are fought by individuals who hide in plain sight, are extremely cautious and highly motivated. Full frontal assaults is such an outdated way to fight. If you want to fight it requires patience and stealth.
Of course they lost it, you can’t fight the government and if you do and win. Well they will just try again a few years later. That’s how they win, use unlimited government funds and keep trying until you get the results you want.
If the government had a gunfight on their hands and lost a few government employees every time this happens, whether the property owner lives or not, this would stop.
$10 that's a compensation for taking his property $10 God damn government but I guess it's no different than what they did to my people hundreds of years ago
I forgot which city it was but they took a huge amount of private property just to build a big name hotel. Just because they said it would benefit the city.I figure it was more of a profit deal for the big wheels. Just my opinion of the mojarty of these deals.
@@c2dmofolos this is a real danger these power companies in anti-government is like never before before you had a chance actually give you $10 for the land did you see and they talk about Russia. Russia in Russia they only charge you 2% of taxes for your land they don't do that 100 years by your family and then they'll take it and eminent domain
So it's not the government taking the land but a private corporation. Sounds like a politician got paid and you are getting screwed. Power company in new mexico is paying ridiculous $$ here to lease land for the wind turbine
F-TN. One of my ancestors was kicked out of there twice by the feds for homesteading before it became a state. I'm not moving my family back there again now.
Seems perfectly reasonable. People like having electric power and cell phone service, they just want someone else to give up their land for it. This is a big deal, that's why it's enshrined in our constitution.
The lady in Pigeon Forge also lost and her house that she just bought and had renovated has now been bulldozed. And even though the city technically owns the property now she has yet to see a penny and bank says her mortgage still remains and she is fully liable.
I’d tell them to do one them clearly have power lines so no need They’ve deposited it but it’s not been accepted by owners Why do they suddenly need 8 times the easement bullshit
@@dski8097 You’re talking to an Eastern band Cherokee bud, I know much more about my family history than you. If you describe the actions of the trail of tears and the mass sterilizations as not a genocide, you’re just flat out wrong.
I’m a fan of your youtube channel and a subscriber, and I loved your eminent domain video on the corrupt Kelo vs New London case. I’m going through an eminent domain case myself where the city of Inglewood is using ED to take my property to give to Steve Ballmer, the 5th richest person, for his new Clippers arena! Definitely not for public use because he’s going to make money off the tickets. Ballmer bought the Forum from Madison Square Gardens because the owner threatened to fight Ballmer for his use of eminent domain to take the forum. So Ballmer didn’t want to deal with the headache and bought the Forum off the other billionaire because he knew he could have the city use ED to take the rest of the property he needed from small property owners like us. I was going to start exposing this on social media and wanted to get your advice, since you have som much experience. Thank you ahead of time for any advice and help and looking forward to your next video!
Would a compromise of allowing TVA to lease the land they want to use at a monthly or yearly fee to the land owner work? The shed and dog kennels either get moved or new ones are built by TVA for the homeowner's use. The landowner keeps his land and TVA and the community get secured power.
They do not need 75 feet on both sides, they just want access to be easy and on their terms. The existing line is clearly on only one side of the utility poles and appears well maintained as is.
I am sure someone did a title search, also bet realtor and the sellers knew yet signed swearing no adverse issues were known... Title search company needs to be held responsible, realtor needs to be held responsible and closing agent needs to be held responsible. The finance company should be holding these peoples feet to the fire... the mayor will claim immunity unless a paper trail is found showing he personally profited. The bank or finance co isnt going to worry as long as those $3000 a month payments roll in... in essence the house was taken by a separate entity and the deed was transferred to them.. banks security is gone. A good atty could win this one. The mayor needs a few thousand peacefully protesting his ill will to residents.
