Amarga has pretty good stam in water and is a decently fast swimmer. If you aren't being chased by a semi aquatic, retreat into water and swim from shore to shore. I dealt with a KOS trike that way and killed his conc buddy under water too. If something fast and small is attacking you, I'd suggest going into the forest. Lots of crap on the ground to interfere with their maneuverability while you mostly stand still.
When someone dodges your tail attack, you got 2 options: 1. hit the sprint to give em a longer run to hit you and hopefully your tail is ready either before they hit you or to trade damage after. 2. precision move backwards and stomp, in most cases they are not fast enough to avoid it. You should also keep walking constantly when fighting, standing still makes you an easier target, even slow movement is better than none. The only time when you should stay still is when your trying to reduce the effect of bleed or you are against a horde of little things and you want to funnel them into your attack zone using terrain.
