Yah great for those who cam afford it. What u should know is that most Jamaicans are not financially able to own anything in Jamaica. The people them coming from overseas who have 🇺🇸 USA, 🇨🇦, UK 🇬🇧 money can buy business. That's is why most Jamaican leave and live overseas as it is cheaper and safer. It cheaper to buy a house in USA Connecticut and some of the souther and middle states. Food is much cheaper in several European countries. My aim is to start a business lucrative and have a second citizenship in a next country like a small island Canada or UK.

Amen! I second that! Barring of locals from local beaches does not happen in other islands such as Barbados. If others can do it, why are Politicians sanctioning this? Jamaica will regret. I cannot understand why this is happening. Highly insulting! You cannot have "development" without local people.

The problem is Jamaica has a old British charter /law in the system that they choose to use against the citizens that state the the beaches are not the property of the citizens , and the government use that against the citizens while selling the beach front property to the foreign developers.

Family, the lands are expensive. But let us put our resources together, two, three, or more of us.. doesn't matter. Split it up later and do y'all paperwork. What is important is that we HAVE tangible assests, something to call our own. Remember, land stop mek, its limited supply. 😂 But for real, it feels like real estate is our only real chance to build wealth right now.

Have seen several RU-vid videos that stated that non-Black people control the majority of the economy of Jamaica! So, this video renewed my hope that Black people can indeed own and control businesses! Black people need to own and control businesses all along the supply chain - from manufacturing to packaging to distribution to warehousing to retail that sets the foundation for inter-generational wealth!

I applaud and appreciate all hotel owners who allow locals to have free access to beaches. I was in Negril on Friday and was so surprised and pleased that we were allowed to walk through Travellers to go to the beach. We were also allowed to park on their property. The security guard was very polite and professional. I will spend my money with these hotels that allow Jamaicans to enjoy the beaches for free. Where a fee is charged to use the bathroom, I think that's fair, because the persons who clean them have to be paid. On the other hand, if free access is given to all beaches, the hustlers should not harass tourist to buy their goods / services. I think they should have permit to be in the space and have designated areas where what they are selling can be displayed. Jamaica is one of the very few countries that allow hotels to shut out the locals from the best beaches. The government can change the laws that allow that to happen but they just don't want to. Shame on them. It's issues like these that should determine who gets votes during elections. Hats off to the hoteliers who have the interest of the locals at heart.

The funny thing about the beach story is as kids growing up in Negril we who live on the West End only used to go to the beaches on Holidays or to pick Breadfruit and Coco Plum.We love swimming and diving of the cliffs in West End. As kids we would walk the beach go in any of the few Hotels and pickup tennis balls for a game of cricket. Our hometown has changed so much. You could stopped anywhere on the beach and take a swim. That's why we have to cherish what we have or else someone will take it from you.

Gentrification is not just unique to Jamaica- this is a universal issue. Without investment whether internationally or locally, the person who would have invested in a property would have experienced no return on their investment “stagnant.” No one invests to see no return. International investment also has a positive impact at a macro level for obvious reasons- boosts employment, the value of other properties in surrounding areas appreciates which is beneficial to all Jamaicans, development drives productivity in other industries, and I could go on and on. Too often we hear the same narrative that the “AVERAGE” Jamaican cannot afford. What does the average Jamaican mean to you? For me, the average Jamaican is more than someone who earns minimum wage. There are plenty of Jamaicans that can afford a median home for $20M. Moreover, I would urge fellow listeners instead of complaining, strategize instead. What methods can I use to acquire said property; can I pool with others with similar interests; how can I increase my income; what investments do I have already that can be liquidated and rerouted elsewhere? The reality is, it will not get easier.
@shayscott7498
@shayscott7498 4 месяца назад
Historically, the money leaves the country. What's the point of paying the locals starvation wages? More money needs to stay in country even if it's only for investing in the education of the people as the good brother suggested education is critical. Your argument is what they teach in graduate school which is about extricating as much as you can, typical business model, and always exploitive.

I was driving through Negril the other day and I was having an epiphany on the whole area. The strip was so dark and gloomy with little lights here and there from establishments, it looks even worse when it rains as it highlights the potholes and water puddles along the road ways. As much as it is nice and still my home the appeal is being lost with the lack of improvements or even maintenance. Oh that Park has been a sore point for me as I remember when the Govt back in the days blocked it all up when it was our place to go and play as kids.

Small street vendors must not be allowed to erect huts or shacks along the street. These unsightly looking structures need to be illegal. The local government and non governmental organizations need to develop a structure that the street vendors must purchase at minimal price. Such structural change will add value to the community. Chamber of Commerce please pay attention!!!!

Hi I listen to this man and I can say this is the first person I listen to that’s connected to government that is pushing for the betterment of the country that I can say I truly appreciate and believe. His ideas is wonderful, I love how he is pushing for the betterment for the country and the Jamaican people. I think he would make a good priminister for the country, what he speaks of for one area is what’s needed in the whole island, he should really consider and run for priminister. I am Jamaican born, live in Canada 🇨🇦 for the most of my life you could say my entire life and I never stop wanting wishing to move back home, the Jamaicans abroad want to come home just the violence that worries us but that happens because the people are hungry and when you’re hungry you become angry , I think as a people this can become a reality, Jamaica 🇯🇲 rise to a place where its people are the first priority and their well being is at the for front. I love your program it makes sense it delivers ideas, truth and respect for a place a home a country God bless

That's interesting because when I visit the websites (from the US) there isn't much available. Can you recommend a website? I'll be in JA this summer and will be staying at either your family's property or the good gentleman you interviewed. I've just decided that I'm only staying at properties owned and operated by Jamaicans. I really don't like the all inclusive model anyways.@@Throp

That's how it's meant to be land is being hoarded and misused land ownership and home ownership for everyone will never happen alot land is owned by the dead and family member a fight over it and we john public can't use it we need to switch to competing cooperative ownership where the co-op owns the land and build the homes and the residents own the cooperative and pay rent(which doesn't go into the land lord pocket but goes into community development
