To the programme makers: (1) Thank you for realising that the series is so much stronger with zero narration. It's all strung together by the first-hand accounts of the stakeholders, which is varied and engaging. (2) Thank you for including the occasional unhappy ending, as a reminder of reality. Of course, the Coasties' job is very far from _all sweetness and light._

There is a legend of a man who lives beneath the sea. He is a fisher of men, the last hope of all those who have been left behind. Many survivors claim to have felt his gripping hands beneath them; pushing them up to the surface; whispering strength until help could arrive. But this, of course, is only a legend.

You do realize that teaching the children how to safely handle a firearm could save them right? I mean look at the amount of criminals who throw their guns in the bushes or in the rivers etc. what happens when a child who hasn’t had the experience of recognizing how dangerous they are stumbles upon a discarded weapon? “Look sissy I found a toy *bang*” Teach your kids gun safety and proper handling end of story.

OK. When they are (did he say 250 nautical miles?) off shore with nothing around them - and he says "we are literally in the middle of no where" - I change my definition of "in the middle of no where" and figure that any stretch of land from now on needs a new call sign!
@michaelgoodman9183
@michaelgoodman9183 3 года назад
Alternatively, draw a circle that’s 300 miles away from where you live. 250 nautical miles is equivalent to 300 miles. You’ll find out that it’ll take you a good hour in a jet to fly that distance. On board their ship they don’t have a jet. They have a helicopter which has less range and a lower speed than a commercial jet

Shouldn't categorize every captain in the Bering sea the same. That was on one episode & the CG was laughing with captain Wild Bill at the end of it saying they were well aware of the tactics / shenanigans some old crabbers used in the 90's & left on good terms & also told the CG guy's thank you they appreciate everything the CG does.The fishing fleet & all Captain's especially US flagged one's but limited to just them have a awesome & very close relationship with the CG that is unbreakable the Alaskan sector they are integrated in the smaller community's its a lot like Hawaii CG.

As a helicopter pilot, it's important to maintain control ability of your aircraft, what happened to them was caused because they focused on the scene and not on the winds. The winds is your lifeline in helicopters and they experienced LTE or loss of tail rotor effectiveness because of the wind direction on their tail. It's easily avoidable as long as you are aware of your aerodynamics. Never let the mission distract you from controlling your aircraft...

@@deborahgrantham7387 I spent 7 years in the Coast Guard, 2 years on small boats and 5 years in aviation. I remember a case where five 20 somethings had gone out on a boat. A big storm was coming. It was on the news, yet these guys still went out. They had no communications, no blankets or jackets, no food though plenty of water was on its way. It was also getting cold. These guys ran out of gas and the wind blew them into the marsh out of sight from the lake. We passed them by unable to see them or hear them due to the sound our our engines. Fortunately for them a Coast Guard Auxiliary Plane spotted them and sent us in the right direction to find them. These guys were cold and dirty. One of them asked if we would have come back after passing them. The coxswain said "Nope, if it wasn't for that plane we'd have never found you." The look on dude's face was revealing. As a youngster, I grew up in Southern California. I went to the beach regularly. I've been held down against the sand by waves and caught in rip currents. Still, I didn't know how dangerous the water could be until I joined the Coast Guard. That airman took his family into harms way. He should have known better. He should have been paying attention to the weather. He should have left for home immediately. I don't care how quickly the weather comes. I would've checked the medial & lateral collateral and drawer test to see if the pcl & acl ligaments were taught, along of the patella stability. If she hyper extended her knee. Its quite possible its an Anterior or Posterior Crusiate Ligament (ACL) injury. The patient will need to follow the RICE (rest, ice, compression, & elevation) program. Until she can see medical intervention. I wouldn't call this injury urgent, uncomfortable yes but stabile condition. Well she an ACL tear after all.

@@hollywarehouse7938 @AWOL FPV I know what her job is as I'm a medical professional myself. These are simple quick tests. Ones the triage person or personnel should know. Esp being the acute care personnel on board. I'm stating a valid point from EXPERTISE & 30 yrs EXPERIENCE. The flapping mouth is yours! 🤣😂

All great stuff until the "Guns". Amongst other things, never understand the "normalising" of them, especially with children so young, and calling it "fun" stuff to do???Probably doesn't help that I am from the UK. But don't let that take away the fact I think you do really great work?

I'm glad to see more info on the USCG boat and ship crews. No disrespect to CG Aviation, but this the boat guys that do most of the work and it's nice to see them get some shine. I hope that Ms. Redstone returned to duty and didn't get chaptered out.
