They say that in the future, you'll own nothing and be happy about it, but in actuality, that ship has already sailed. It's the ability to be autonomous and control your own movements that is really at stake here, and the battle is being lost every day in countless different ways.
By promoting archaic technologies and systems on this channel the way we do, it appears that we are just being senseless luddites, but there's a much bigger picture and we'll thought out methods to the apparent madness.

@@steviechampagne You could rebel though, but the problem is the majority of people are no better than livestock going through the motions. Stop exporting your communities' wealth at the big grocery supermarkets, where your money goes all the way to those at the top. All who live in their own exclusive communities far away from ours. Instead by buying local you invest into your local area, your neighbors have more wealth and can expand their local business. More wealth in your local area means better everything. Most communities have basically no local economies, not in any real sense, sure money moves around but its mostly moving out instead of coming in. And yes I get the whole, money is a "note" stuff etc. But in the end it has always just been a tool not wealth in itself. It is when your community cycles it around internally that it can turn into wealth for you and your neighbors.

As recently as year 2002 I was able to take a year -long course in welding and metal Fabrication taught by Vic Pierce in a California Public High School Vocational Tech program in Placerville, CA. The Guy had worked the Alaska Pipeline, and in Shipbuilding, and was phenomenal, both in his welding skills and as a Teacher. All the other students were kids living on rural family farms. I'd just hit the half Century mark, and wanted to be able to do more around the small ranch where I'd just joined a new family. Back to the east coast a decade later, I found that there are some strong training programs here in Coastal Virginia for high school kids to learn useful skills in the "trades." Hey! In the late 60s when I was in High School, the counselors were all making College sound like the path to wealth, fame, and Clear SKIN! A few years back I lost my home in Louisiana when the government raised my property taxes 1,000%, so you are absolutely right. But I beat the system by dropping off the grid, living virtually for free on government owned land in a 25 yr. old motorhome with a huge solar system, allowing me to be electrically independent. As long as I can still afford gas, I'm cool. I pay $80 every 2 years for my registration on both my motorhome and car which is also paid for. But one day they'll say it's too old and won't let me renew them. I have spare everything too - 2 spare ECMs, 2 spare inverters, belts, etc. so I can probably keep them running till then. But I'm 67 yrs old and I'm not going back to points and carbs unless I have no other choice or say I'm restoring an old motorcycle, generator, lawnmower, etc.. And yes, I was a mechanic and gearhead back in the 70's myself - even had my own MC shop and worked in the industry till the mid 90's. I was also a service manager in a Jeep-Eagle dealership too, which is why I won't own one today. Long-term jeep owners know what I'm talking about. Thanks for the thoughts though. I smell what you're stepping in, it's just that everything stinks these days when the government gets involved. I guess we could distill our own alcohol for fuel when gas gets to $100 a gallon, but by then there will probably be laws preventing us from even getting behind the wheel. What are you going to do, shoot every cop that sees you? I doubt we'll even have lead bullets by then, as they will be deemed too dangerous for our own good, you know. What can you do? Sometimes I fantasize of going out in a blaze of glory, when the oppression gets too much to bear, but if they're smart, they will just wait for all of us old farts to die off - it won't be long - and just complete their plans then. They will meet with less resistance when no one is around anymore who still remembers what freedom even is. Socialists play the long game. All they really need to do is wait us out.

Let me tell you, he was livid. He’d just found out the auto industry thought it was a good idea for cars and trucks to have tracking capabilities and kill switches as standard equipment. I sensed that the veins in his head and neck were bulging from the way he’d worded his editorial and lemme tell you, he had plenty to say about anyone who wanted to do this or thought it was a good idea. He also didn’t forget to mention Anonymity, Privacy and Freedom. At the time I was a young feller and thought it all sounded too bazaar to ever occur but I’ve never forgotten it… and here we are.

The Western mind (especially academia) has embraced the very dialectic that made that horrific totalitarian state you observed for three years possible. Speak to a college student today and you will find a well versed proponent of Critical Theory who is utterly incapable of thinking critically. Two seminal texts have been written in the past 80 years, Hayek’s “The Road to Serfdom” and Bloom’s “The Closing of The American Mind.” Hayek’s eloquent text, published during World War Two as a rigidly logical disputation of his collectivist colleagues, obliterated the idea that the communist/socialist construct (and yes, the Nazis were most assuredly socialists regardless of the fantasies of the left) was anything other than an inimical threat to liberty and human progress. Bloom illustrated 40 years ago that the almost universal acceptance of philosophical relativism by Academia has led to a remarkably close-minded belief that an identity exists between one’s opinions and the “truth” thus denying the existence of immutable truths which are not contingent upon one’s “feelings.” And feelings are very easily manipulated by the state and mass media as we have seen. We live in intellectually dark ages. I find myself driven to carve out a life for myself independant of state run institutions such as public utilities, and increasingly, the auto industry. So, when Uncle Tony talks reverently about carburetors and points and condensers, I am with him. Not only is it cool low-technology that works perfectly fine, it is technology that isn’t easily controlled - it can’t be hacked. The ONLY problem is that points and condensers are a consumable - somebody has to make them. So, they aren’t entirely beyond the reach of meddling and incompetence by the state. Almost makes me wish I was Amish.

And schools ((even public)) are still quite decent at teaching the "Three R's"..... Its scary because they even take "ownership" of your children. Whenever you have a baby, whats the first thing they "make" you do? Sign a birth "certificate". Its not so much a birth certificate as it is a document where once you sign it, your child becomes property of the state. This is why children services exist and if you are tagged as an "unfit" parent, they can come and take your children "legally". You dont have to sign the birth certificate, but, if you dont, your child cannot be a u.s. citizen and wont get a social security number and wont be allowed to go to school, or become employeed anywhere in the country, "legally". Indeed! You could say I am also annoyed with "progress" as it's so often called today, as if it were a good thing. So many so-called conveniences of today come with far too great a cost imo. Take the phone for instance... Remember "the house phone" and phone booths on every corner? Then, it all disappeared, as people slowly become slaves to their pagers and cell phones. Now, everyone has smart devices and most are hooked on social media. It's gotten so bad, people refuse to even think for themselves - regurgitating simple prepackaged narratives and buzz words, or they'll just direct you to "Google it" yourself. Call me old, but I prefer the inconvenience of the phone being connected to the wall with a cord, to the surveillance and manipulation of our every movement and thought. I come across as nuts too, but with my family lately, I've been making some... progress.😄 Stay strong. ❤

@privateerburrows 20 дней назад
I''m a boomer also, from 1958, and I also grew up around mechanical stuff. My father had a heat treatments factory. Before I worked for him, I worked for a lathe guy. Anyways, I was also familiar with electronics. I grew up with gas tubes, and the transistor revolution (germanium at first, I remember the Japanese PNP 2SB56 was my favorite, for no particular reason). After I moved to North America, I worked in electronics, first in drafting; and, without ever going to university, gradually worked my way up to electronics design engineer, and embedded systems programmer. Eventually I became the head of Engineering. I'm retired now, and learning AI, plus taking a course in Accounting, in my plentiful free time. From my perspective, I don't see the evolution to electronic ignition as a conspiracy to make self-repair impossible. Technically, if you are willing to acquire knowledge and skills in electronics you could conceivably take that electronic ignition system apart, read the firmware (defeat code protection, if necessary, there's always ways...), study it, and achieve full understanding of its inner works; and I'm sure you'd even find ways to improve it. It just needs a different set of skills to do so; that's all. But don't take it as me being a conspiracy skeptic; by all means, I'm a believer! Just not this conspiracy, in particular. Getting the timing of sparkplugs exactly right for maximum efficiency is a very complicated math formula that takes many things into account. It is impossible to obtain such timing with a mechanical device. Sure you advance or delay timing by motor speed, with a centrifugal mechanism, and maybe add some adjustment for engine block temperature; but these will be linear approximations for a couple of parameters; nowhere nearly the full timing optimization math model. But you know this already. What maybe you don't know, with regards to proprietary stuff, is that automakers are actually the VICTIMS of all the proprietariness of all those electronic controllers. The ones that hold the copyright on the hardware AND specially the software, are the vendors that serve the automakers. The automakers themselves don't have a single EE or programmer in their staff. All the design of such electronics is farmed out to various design houses, who use the proprietary weapon to enslave their clients. Listen to Jim Farley talking about the differences between Ford and Tesla. He was saying, in an interview, that during the supply chain disruption that followed the onset of the epidemic, Ford could not get their vendors to change the designs in less than months, for any required change, no matter how trivial; whereas Tesla, who do electronics and software in-house, could change the design AND the code for a board to target a more available micro-controller, and do it all in just days. Farley was also talking about what it would take to make over the air updates happen for Ford, saying that in every car they have dozens of controller boards designed by different vendors, that are neither reprogrammable, nor do they talk to each other; so they'd have to modify all of those designs to speak a common protocol and have a way to re-program themselves (like bios-upgrade). HUGE endeavor. But so, all this to say, it's not like Jim Farley and Mary Barra are laughing evil laughs thinking about how much of our freedom they are taking away from us; they are victims of their suppliers, who in turn have all these copyright, patents, protections and obfuscations in order to lock their clients into total slavery and dependency. It is awful, but it has nothing to do with you and I. EDIT: And maybe I will make a bit of history next year, as I am planning to start my own business in embedded systems design for OEM's, and my main selling proposition will be to give the client full ownership of their product, full source code, clean, understandable code, documentation, testing set-up, and a year of free maintenance-support; meaning THEY will be in charge of maintenance, but if they have trouble we help them. I think my idea is revolutionary. Anyways, it does not mean that the OEM's will open-source their controllers to the public at large ... Actually, now that I think of it, open-source could be made into a possible contract option .... Hmmmm..... EDIT: That we don't own anything is nothing new; we've never owned even our very lives. What does "own" mean, anyways? It's a human concept, an invention; not some objective reality that pre-exists human language and society. In the transition from hunter-gatherers to agriculture, it became necessary to set boundaries and landmarks, to establish where one's field ends and someone else's begins. But even then, there was no guarantee the agreement was going to be honored going forward. Ownership is, and always was, just a word.

Great video! I'm a younger person and I absolutely love hearing wisdom from the older folks. I can't believe how much I don't know. I learned absolutely nothing important in school besides math and the books I read personally on school time. Go easy on the younger generations, we are being set-up for failure and we need help more than we know. Most of us are clueless and we don't know how to ask for help because we don't even know that we need it yet! We grew up in the system and we intuitionally know that everything feels wrong but many of us are so overwhelmed that we don't know where to start or how to help. This is a sick time we live in.

Thank you for your service. God Bless You. I think of how a cousin of mine was treated after he returned from Nam. Disgraceful that U.S. Citizens would curse and spit on a Vet. I hope you never experienced such mistreatment. I will confess, as one who once thought we should bloody the nose of all of our foes with our armed forces, I’ve come to the conclusion that our Patriots are too precious to entrust to our military-industrial complex. And it disheartens me to think I’ve supported military actions which wrecked so many lives, not for the Flag which is most worthy, but for the prosecution of some politician’s Globalist’s agenda. I pray you and your family remain untouched by the horrors of armed conflict, but if you have, I hope heaven and earth has been lifted to help you. And if not, raise your hand. We owe it to you.

Born in 2003, "show me your papers" is how life has always been for me. The rule always was "If you want to leave the house, you need to have your cellphone on, and on you". Even at 20 years old, I still get punished when the battery runs out on that awful thing. I still live with my parents after all, and do not expect to be moving out any time soon. Everything that I have ever wanted to do has always seemed to be met with "you need a licence" "The HOA has forbidden it", or "we do not have space for that". I sometimes get curious about the origins of rules that seem to exist specifically to get in my way. Mandatory car insurance, for example, $300 monthly is very expensive. It seems that with few exceptions, insurance became mandatory in most states in the 1970s, along with safety and emissions regulations, and fuel shortages. Premiums have apparently risen on average faster than inflation scince it became mandatory, and insurance companies can charge as much as they want. I wonder if state goverments were paid off by insurance companies...

You raised a lot of good points. It is strange how people think that technology will make their lives easier when it actually makes them more helpless and reliant. I retired from my old job and studied horticulture. I now run my own gardening company. My son is a master carpenter and was lucky enough to learn from a master who taught him on the old tools. We look at technology and see how companies make things impossible to mend...how we buy things with inbuilt obsolescence.....when we do this be very careful because the trap is we are buying into our own inbuilt obsolscence. Be the man who can do things...be the man who can stand on your own two feet. That is where freedom lies.

Spot on! I was born in 62 as well and do remember all that you speak of. My older brother was the mechanic that I learned about engines. But today after independent studies about such freedoms, or lack there of, specifically when dealing with road (revenue) agents, I have three things to say: 1, I claim common law jurisdiction. 2, I give no consent. 3, I wave none of my rights. Then usually after repeating it several times, slowly, any other questions they have I answer with a question. Until they "let" me go on my way. It's always worked for me so far. We lose most freedoms by signing single signature contracts. Which are either contributions or donations, and are usually about registrations. And to register is signing over ownership. The 14th amendment does not abolish slavery, it actually says there will be no slavery, without consent. Are you a u.s. citizen? If you say yes, you have given consent. Registering to vote does the same. Many layers of consent, Your silence is a big one
