why this official figma channel is under appreciated, it should have millions of views just bcuz it is doing so much for our designers community

10k people watching, learning and implementing does more better to the world than a million people just viewing. Let's not get carried away by irrelevant metrics.

"Space" to prevent nesting! Love it! That auto-nesting feature has been VERY frustrating.
@Puleczech
@Puleczech 2 года назад
It also works if you drag the object by the part that won't get inside the frame. In other words drag it so the mouse cursor does not enter the frame. But the space shortcut works much better, that's for sure...

2:03 move an object over a frame without nesting it into the frame. The presented solution here is to hold down SPACE while dragging. There's another possibility if you want a shape to be positioned partially over frame and neutral canvas territory: 1. Grab the object at a point further away from what will lap into the frame. 2. Drag the shape towards the frame. 3. The nesting only happens as soon as the object AND your mouse-cursor are over the frame. 4. If you release while a part of the shape is already over the frame but the mouse-cursor is still over neutral canvas territory then the shape will not get nested into the frame. 👍 Very intuitive interaction design!

Part: preserving icon colors when swapping. This is great, I guess need to do for every icon component, if project use icons with diff colours.

For some reason only recently I figured out that you can reorder fill / stroke style stacks. They are actually dragable!

Does the New Window trick (2nd to last) work on Windows? I couldn't find the menu option, but as a work around, I just open the prototype in the browser and do the design work in the app.

I meant to mention, that you can always fall back on new tabs in your browser and that can work too.

I would love some kind of checkbox at the dimensions saying "scale proportions" which would allow you to use value-based resizing with the benefits of the scale tool (I know there's a Plugin for that (called Scale))

As of this morning I can't select the properties of layers to copy/paste them like you show @5:30. All it does when I click is drags the layer rather than selecting it! Have I hit a keyboard shortcut by mistake or something?
@onvx
@onvx 3 года назад
It's actually only the Fill and Stroke properties I can't select to copy, Effects and Export allows it...
@rogieking8773
@rogieking8773 3 года назад
@@onvx I looked into this for you and it's a bug. Normally you'd see a blue selection color when you select it. It actually works still, but you just don't get any visual feedback on whether or not it is selected. Hopefully the team can get the bug fixed soon!

Sorry but I expected more 😞 these are things you should naturally find out and know when working with Figma. Nothing new. Come on, you can do better! I really like the webinars. Those are helpful containing more interesting information.
@rogieking8773
@rogieking8773 3 года назад
I'm bummed this was disappointing for you, Petr. Anything in your experience that would be more helpful?
@PpXx1991
@PpXx1991 3 года назад
@@rogieking8773 Yes there are some things I would like to know how to do, but I think it's more about features in development or that could be implemented. E.g. what would be really useful, I would like to keep aspect ratio of vector shapes when transforming frames with or without auto-layout if you know what I mean. Not by holding shift, just locking the size. I couldn't figure it out. I fixed that by using image instead of vector, but that doesn't always solves it. Or animation on scrolling would be great. But as I said, since I'm watching Figma news, I think that's not possible so far, unless you do some complicated hacks. 😔 Or also, can you link different pages in prototyping mode?
