Was good to see some of the old Rockford guys again...Oh how I missed this...K9 won the last Rockford trailer race and the first one at Grundy...How cool is that? Got a chuckle when the announcer asked him if he had raced at Rockford before..lol PyroSquirrel brought it and won again...Congrats Cliff !! :) YourFavCanFan
I really enjoyed watching this video. This race embodies what we've so sadly lost in racing with the depersonalized and over commercialized multi million dollar franchises. In this video I see a lot of imagination combined with individual and collective talent, guys that have the ability to fabricate and improvise with little or no money, to me that's what the true spirit of racing is all about. -And I haven't laughed this hard in a long time, thank you! I'd rather watch these weekend warriors than the multi million dollar NASCAR celebrities, any day of the week. Please bring back trailer racing, and Keep'em Rolling!
I got stuck behind the white and the silver truck, running side by side, for 120 miles on the interstate last week. They must have been on their way to the speedway...
Weird how Rockford closes up due to greed by the Deery kids and also due to greed by the Deery kids they move most of their bigger events to other tracks in the region.
Everyone deserves to retire. 76 consecutive years of racing… a track surrounded by stores and housing.. a city pressing more and more to put something on the land.. go listen to what the mayor said about the property. It wasn’t “the track is amazing and brings so much to the community.” It was, “bringing these new stores will help grow the community and bring new money in.” And only ONE of the Deery family is keeping the tradition of these exciting events alive. It’s not greed… it’s called “supporting your local short track!” Without a track to do the events any longer, David wasn’t ready to step away from the entertainment scene in the racing industry.. so, he’s shared these events with the other friendly tracks in the area. These events will help these tracks grow, sell seats, and keep the events the fans love, still within a short couple hours drive. Just because his track is closed, doesn’t mean he can’t do everything he can to keep his favorite events alive while helping other tracks at the same time.
That's even more greed. But now I did hear a rumor that David Deery who actually ran Rockford didn't want to sell the track but all of the other Deery kids wanted to sell the track for the $$$$$.
