This is one of my favorite DIY tools! Take the guesswork out of figuring out what size paper you need for card making or scrapbooking by using a Cardstock Layer Guide. It will make your life easier! You can make one at home and I'll show you two ways to use it.
When you are designing a card, this tool will help you quickly and easily determine which measurements you need for your borders.
When you want to copy the measurements of a card, match up the Cardstock Layer Guide to the card layers. Once you find a match, you'll quickly know the measurement by reading it off of the guide paper.

I made a set of these years ago for my adult daughter who couldn't remember the layer measurements and struggles with math. Then made a set for myself just to make things easier. I punched a small hole in the corners and keep them on a "book ring". Funny how the simple things can make life so much easier.

Very helpful, Juli! Know what I’m gonna do? I’ll cut each size of my nesting dies from a different color and use that set as a guide. I use dies 99% of the time rather than cut my panels manually. Fun weekend coming right up! 😮

Another winner. I love this idea so much that I am going to make up my templates now. For laying I have always "guessed" at the size I want and I end up taking a little off the side, a little off the top and then.......toss that piece out and start over!!! Now I have my samples to go by.

Hi from Australia, I love your videos, I receive them early Saturday morning, such a great way to start my weekend. This is a brilliant idea. Hi Nicole! I don't have the measurements in centimeters, but you can easily convert them and change the sizes of the paper.

She’s a great card maker but just like everyone, she likes & shows a variety of things. Always helpful & informative. Watch her old videos. I did that when I first found her but I was just starting then. I had a lot to learn. You’ve been making cards for 30 years? Maybe you’ve seen or done it all.
