I bought these last week. I am very happy with the sound of these. I don't know if I am way out of whack here, but I had the FH9s and sent them back over some issues with it. These FF5s to me sound almost as good for a fifth of the price. I was also very happy with the soundstage. I actually like having an open sound and do not want isolation. I play at Church and like to hear the ambient sound along with my monitor in my ears. Thanks for the review. Oh, and yes, the L/R is practically invisible!!!
Got these mostly based on your review, and I find your description very accurate. These are truly great buds! I just want to add that, as a bonus point, these are very easy to drive and happily driven off of an apple dongle. Thanks again and keep up the great work.
dude holy crap I was looking for good earbuds because I don’t want to wrap iem cable around my ear also I wanted good sound and imaging and soundstage for gaming. I found your website and came across this video. uploaded 4 hours ago HOLY.
Did you ever get them? I’m coming from a Hd58x but don’t know if these are good for what I play: ow2, l4d2, bo3 zombies, cs2, Val, Fortnite, and pretty much any single player games that catch my interest and the ones I played recently are re4 remake, re village, dead space remake, tlou part 1.
@@HeyNaviNo I didn't get them, unfortunately some things came up and I had to spend my money else where. I ended up buying the Truthear Zero's, the cable wrapping around your ear isn't so bad. Sorry man
Appreciation of Earbuds needs a renaissance. I had been using a pair of Sennheiser ie800s for some 8 years, until the right driver died on me a month ago. I found a pair of earbuds that my sister had left at my home, no name, probably these were bundled with a phone. I tried them with the dragonfly cobalt and honestly, apart from the almost complete absence of sub-bass, these are really good! Impressive stage and separation, very open and surprisingly detailed. It hurts me to say that these sub one dollar buds separate bass guitar and kick drums BETTER than my beloved IE800s that I bought for 800 dollars! Can't wait to hear what these higher end buds sound like. Thank you for the great review.
I love the FF3, I use the donut foams because they provide more balance. The bass is so punchy, most of my headphones and IEMs don't even come close. Now I have to try the FF5 too.
@@saviour7431 I don't own any IEMs that sound like the FF3, they're all neutral or V shaped with boosted sub bass, they rumble but don't punch as hard. Only my Z1R can compare though. I have the Meze 99 and I'd say the FF3 has the same warm and smooth sound, but without the bloated boomy bass that bleeds too much into vocal like the Meze 99. The bass is satisfying, not boomy and fatiguing at all.
I'd pass, the FF3 are better and more musical. If you really want bass though you have to try out the Yinman 2.0 600s, they are basically mini-LCD2Cs and have completely stopped me from looking at any HPs/IEMs! Another rec. goes to the Rikubuds Grand Berserker 2 if you are really after BASS.
@@JtwasLuck I'm more than happy with the FF3's bass, I don't even touch my Z1R anymore. Not saying the bass is technically better, but good bass on earbuds is really different and addictive. I still haven't got the FF5 yet, people say it's great but doesn't do something special like the FF3. Right now I'm looking at TGXear buds actually.
@@ROCKSTAR3291 Exactly, the Yinmans have way more bass for me. Rivalling that of the LCD2Cs. I have ordered the new sunnivas BTW they are TGXear's first fully custom drivers!
I’m sure you are DankPods from alternative universe. So calm and no gritting, no nuggets, no Scarlet Fire and no Frank. But the style and editing and headphones preserved. And I like it no less then DankPods, great work mate!
Just got these and pleasantly surprised at how good they are. I’m treble sensitive so popped the bass foams on and the sound is beautifully balanced for my ears. Also I’m not a fan of the stock cable changed to Linsoul pure copper and again suits my ears well. Paired up with Sony WM1AM2 and delivers great music and fidelity. Thanks for your review 👍
I wonder how these compare to the budget Koss line like the KSC75? I'm interested in these since it seems to have a nice build quality, more portable, and I don't have to mod it to have a detachable cable (KPH40 "detachable" cable doesn't count imo).
Hello, i'm kinda new to this. I can get the audiotechnica m50 for a price close to the ff3. Is it really much diferent? or have earbuds come a long way?
Thanks for your review of the FF5! Didn't know FiiO was going to release them so got myself a pair of FF3 a couple of months ago. The FF3 are indeed on the warmer side, but kinda missing the soundstage and spaciousness I hoped for. So the new model got me thinking about leaving the Hip-Hop\Techno\Stoner Rock genres to the FF3 and purchasing the FF5 for the rest of the stuff. 🤔 By the way, in your opinion would the Apple "Lightning - 3,5 mm" dongle be enough to drive these earbuds?
So I got the FF5, I kinda like them but them have downsides : - They fall off my ears so easily, it's really really hard to hold them well in place, foam make them stick a little bit better but if you have a bit oily skin and small ears : THEY WILL CONSTANTLY FALL OFF - Yes there's some bass, no it's not as "punchy" as some say, forget subbass you won't have any - without foam, the grid shape hurts my ears I don't really regret them, but i was expecting something better tbh. Yes they sound nice, but this will not blow your mind. What kinda hurts me is to think that most non audiophile people would probably like more the sound of classic earpods from apple than these.
You are probably right about the earpods thing - mainly because people don't know how to get a secure/comfortable fit with these. But I can say that if you get the fit right, these sound much better.
That is because they don't fit your ears, try the Yincrow X6 they are cheap and a good way to test out MX500 shell fitment. If they fit you, you WILL get plenty of sub-bass extension. I have earbuds that rival LCD2Cs in terms of subbass, they can be amazingly good IF they FIT.
@@PrimeAudioReviews I'm currently looking for headphones without a headband and unfortunately I can't wear in-ear headphones very well and I even find them annoying when talking on Discord in the evenings. That's why I came across the fiios.
