It was with great sadness that we learned this week of the death of documentary film maker Dennis O'Rourke. Dennis has made many films as an independent producer / director as well as making several films for Film Australia. An exceptional and very personal film maker we are proud to have his work represented in our collections. The series from which this film is taken was produced by Dennis and this episode was also directed by him. Bechu Prasad, an old Indian man, has lived in Fiji all his life in a large extended family of which he is now head. In this film, we watch him at work on his self-owned sugar cane farm and in his position as a well-respected community leader who gets on well with both Indian and indigenous Fijians.
