No fishing or surfing, and that beautiful wave going unridden? That sounds like hell! But good call following the local rules. Hopefully, the swell picked up for Monday. Cheers.
Mark you gotta keep the rod under your shoulder when you are fighting the tuna. You got the high stick syndrome, could snap that rod easily. The long pump ain’t doing you any good. Fish was constantly turning its head, if you had it under your shoulder doing short pumps you could of got it to gaff real quick. It’s not about muscle power, it’s about using the gear to your advantage, you were working against the rod. You should not raise the rod above the line of the horizon. All it’s doing is going up and turning it’s head back down when you do those long pumps. You can kill a tuna that size in 20 mins and have it be worn if you don’t let it turn its head.
Definitely a good point. When I tried to keep it under my arm the reel would keep slipping to the right because the reel seat was blown out on that rod. It was a yard sale.
@@strikemissions Since the Captain had the boat in gear, the YFT will stay at the side of the boat, not able to do it's circle, will not exert any energy and continue to push water through it's gills. Definitely a tough way to land a fish. Good fish and hope the sushi was the kine!
