They say that a winter storm is moving into the area tonight.... I'm heading out now! This will be a military surplus overnight adventure! Coming up soon. - Luke

Hey Luke I've been watching you awhile now and wanted you to know. You only live 36 miles from me and if you ever want some company let me know. I spent 12 years in the army as an Airborne Ranger and love the outdoors. And just in case you're wondering closer on the Tennessee side near the smokey mountains...

It is supposed to be 20 degrees down here on the Coast, can't even imagine how cold it is up there in the mountains. Bundle up my friend

@@caseygreen9238 trust me he and i are trained to handle the most harsh conditions. He is a true trooper and i served 2 tours in Iraq so i think we can make it, but yes it's cold up here in the mountains right now , very wet.

hey luke, just thought you'd might like to know that there is a black variant of this available but it is a heck of a lot more rare to come across one ✌

I absolutely love mine. I keep a Sawyer mini filter and bag in the back pouch along with an Esbit pocket stove, fuel, fire kit, Stanley cup, and various other items. I have the complete FILBE system and at this point I really don't see me ever changing away from it. - Gabriel

Ive found that if I store my hydration bladder in the freezer after I am done with it. It keeps it fresh. It was actually a tip from a friend of mine and it works really well. The freezer kills anything that could cause problems. I just leave it in there until I’m ready to use it again and I’ve had no problems.

I use the older USMC ILBE system made by Source Tactical Hydration. Originally I got my set ups on eBay with new bladders, used but new looking carriers and new in the bag hoses and connectors. Yes it is a bit longer but I carry mine differently. A very large percentage of wheelchair users have adopted setups like this for nighttime hydration a d daytime use carried on the back of the chair.

Awesome tips, thanks Luke! I've always had problems with the hose section that grows mould very quickly, it looks like the quick-disconnect solves this issue. This is a BIG improvement overall to the civilian-style packs I've had in the past, good to see finally.

This looks like an excellent hydration system. Well thought out designed well, easy on and off. Like the easy on/ off valve, instead of a bite valve. The large screw on cap is nice. Can pt ice in there or when done easy to dry out. My old system had a very small cover opening and it was next to impossible to dry out the bladder and the hose when done using.

I have one of these packs but did not know what it was. You are absolutely right about your review. The harness system is sturdy enough for a wool blanket and tarp. With a gear belt you can get summer overnighter out of this pack no problem. I paid five bucks at thrift store.

Luke, I agree with your review... I love my FILBE hydration pack, sometimes by itself if I'm out for a few hours or hooked to the FILBE assault pack with the Grimlocks. I leave my Grimlocks on the hydration pack, making it a simple task once I decide what I need. One note: the correct replacement bladder is the CamelBak "Mil-Spec Antidote Short" - make sure the name of the product has that exact description and you're good to go.

I must have an earlier version of the FILBE Hydration System. It doesn;t have the pockets yours does, but it holds a 3L military bladder and it has served me well for a few years. Thanks for the review. BTW, we're bracing for the winter storm as well. It will be a snow and ice event.

Great multipurpose pack. Convenient small size, I just picked one up for the first time seeing them a month ago. $26. Seems the prices have dropped or just have to shop around. I did buy the bladder separately in new condition. total of $40 new bladder and this pack excellent deal. Thanks for the review

That's nice I've seen the camelbak version but I opt for the mule. That's the one I would suggest its low profile with more storage. Very lightweight to

thorsbeat if you don't mind me asking why do you prefer it over the camelbak? I'm looking at buying something like this, but this doesn't look like it has much storage to be honest.

Don't like bladders at all. Use to and realized they are more of a pain in the butt. Its hard to tell how much water you have left. Also If its freezing out and it leaks it could get all your stuff wet and that would not be fun and could be dangerous.

Isnt this the camelbak ambush? Looks exactly like mine
@isaachousley325
@isaachousley325 5 лет назад
It is the one in the same, just better pals webbing and military tag. In the USMC, you'll get issued an ambush every once in a while cause the last guy lost his issued on and bought the civilian version to replace it.

I have carried Camelbak for years, and never drink a drop, however when I carry 32 oz bottles I drink more. Is there a metering system which will tell you how much you have ingested?

I hate CamelBak bladders, even the military ones. Hard to clean, leak and their bite tube is terrible. Source tactical makes a much better product and I believe our military uses those as well. Also that little clip comes right off when walking through dense brush or even riding a bike. Better off with a Viper Bungee to hold the tube.
