In 2015 the Malta Airport Foundation sponsored the production of a documentary about the relatively unknown underwater habitat surrounding the protected island of Filfla. The 30-minute documentary is the latest instalment in a series being produced by an award-winning team for ‘The Panacea Project’ and is intended to promote a message of conservation. The documentary takes viewers closer than they have ever been to the enigmatic island and is significant in light of the fact that Malta’s rich marine environment attracts around 110,000 tourists to experience scuba diving each year. The issue of preserving and protecting this marine habitat is of crucial importance both in terms of our collective heritage and our tourism product.

Filfa was not mistakingly bombed during the war it was relentlessly used for target practice by British and Us planes and warships for some thirty years well after the war

The vocabulary used is very rich. Students should be encouraged to watch this documentary. Schools may wish to screen this during breaks or Geography / Environmental Studies classes.

The teacher would probably not put it in full-screen, leave it on 144p, keep the cursor on the taskbar and not close up any annotations or ads.

Excellent film! As someone from Scotland who loves Malta and has visited it 18 times, it's wonderful to see Filfla up close and personal for the first time. I'll look at it with different eyes when I visit again in January 2018. Thank you.

Awesome documentary, but it's sad that there wasn't some minutes about sharks. I know Malta Airport wouldn't like to talk about these, but Filfla is the go to spot for sharks in this area, highly interesting island.

Thanks, MaltaAirport. I know how to change quality, but RU-vid only offers 360p for me. I guess it has something to do with my Flash version or the video loading with HTML5 player.. but as you confirmed it's actually in HD, I will figure it out.

Amazing documentary. But he did not said that it was bombed by the british army as use it as a target for training. he said that was bombed from many empires. Ridiculous

There are in fact some unexploded bombs of Italian and German aviation on the southern side of the island although majority of the bombs are British.

Nice diversity of fish, good overall filming (but pity there was repetition and quite a lot of distortion in places), hated the soundtrack, its just so typical of a home made Maltese diving video... it also overpowers the film .. which is a shame

Fantastic footage but I find the narrator and script weirdly written to the point I find myself getting frustrated. It is like the author assumes complete naivety or maybe the target audience is 9-14 year olds. Watching a documentary on filfla I do not expect to have things like what a school of fish are or lots of other silly things explained. Nice job anyway, im sure the kids will love it.
