I meant digital distributor who makes sure you get paid for your music (and encodes your music so it is protected and easily Shazam-ed) and sends it out to 200+ digital stores and streaming services all over the world (including iTunes and Spotify, but you can opt out of some stores if you want). Like TuneCore, CD Baby... I'm an artist and I was struggling for some time until my business bulbs turned on. With your talent you'd have waaaaaaay more views if you had the right PR. And you can do all that yourself for free until it gets too overwhelming (by then you'd have profit though), as long as you get the right info. ;) Here: www.digitalmusicnews.com/permalink/2014/05/29/digital-distribution-company-review Here are some ebooks I purchased that are worth more than I paid for: cyberprmusic.com/cyberprmusicians/ PR agents/agencies are really expensive and make more sense to hire if you have an actual project like an album release (from what I've researched, it's money well invested if you do the right preparation and get the right PR team). You can use the tips from those books to gain a bigger audience and then crowdfund your album (like on PledgeMusic). I'm not telling you this because I get anything, btw, it's just my experience as a rising artist to a fellow artist. You should also make yourself a website (the ebooks explain why and how and give you fantastic options). I decided on Bandzoogle. Here, have a look: anamsaric.com I'm telling you. If you want to make yourself a career as an independent artist YOU SHOULD and YOU CAN. It's a lot of work, but if you want it, the options are limitless!
