Filipe Manu sings 'Si, ritrovarla io giuro' from La Cenerentola (Battle of the Arias #2: Rossini) 

The Royal Opera's Filipe Manu sings 'Si, ritrovarla io giuro' from Rossini's La Cenerentola, as part of our Battle of the Arias series.
Rossini composed La Cenerentola when he was 25 years old, following the success of The Barber of Seville the year before. La Cenerentola, which he completed in a period of three weeks, is considered to have some of his finest writing for solo voice and ensembles. The opera showcases Rossini's music is at its most diverting, with lyrical tunes, characterful ensembles and, of course, impressive coloratura flourishes.
New Zealand-Tongan tenor Filipe Manu joined the Jette Parker Young Artists Programme in the 2019/20 Season.
Manu has a Bachelor of Music degree and a Postgraduate Diploma with Distinction from the University of Waikato, where he studied with Dame Malvina Major. He has been a Dame Malvina Major Emerging Artist with New Zealand Opera, and been selected for the inaugural Dame Malvina Major Opera programme and the Dame Kiri Te Kanawa Foundation Singers’ Development programme. He also completed a Masters Degree on the Opera Programme at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, where he sang Lysander (A Midsummer Night’s Dream) and Ferrando.
