This brings back so many memories and pains 😂. Here in the PH we are not allowed to look down while dancing and must always wear a smile while wearing a Filipiniana so we are unable to see where we are stepping 😂 Shoutout to all Filipinos out there and folk dancers! ❣
actually in the philippines when professional dancers of tinikling dancing this they are not looking down they are head up and smiling while dancing this sometimes blindfolded... but ne ways this is soo heart warming that other countries are appreciating filipino folk dance.
i appreciate all the effort they extended for dancing the Philippine folk dances. i just hope nxt time when the Pilipino Community have this kind of presentation be aware of teaching the kids how to dance gracefully... their footworks are good they just need to practice their hand movements.
In the Philippines, if you were caught looking down, you would be threatened with a grade deduction. Of course, no one believes the teachers until they actually get a grade deduction
I feel ashamed as a Filipino watching this video 'cuz I never tried dancing tinikling. And so heart warming to watch Americans learning abt Filipino culture.
Our teacher in PE always shout at us saying "You can dance some sexy dance on tiktok but you can't dance tinikling in school?! Does that tiktok will give your future?!"
Yeah! Filipino vibe! Especially in college when you met a terror prof. 🤣😭 They will kill you slowly inside but they're all really inspiring. Love them. ❤️
I was just smiling during group 2 performance. They were having so much fun and looked hyped up. And they were doing those crazy tinikling steps. Awesome kaayo!
That is so great that they also introduce Philippine folk dances to other teenage students. The modernize version was fun to watch which is more difficult than the original . The second group also combined elements from Singkil, while the third group doing the tinikling on the bench is quite a departure from the original version but also amazing to watch. Well done students, you not only get my nod, but praises from those who can't dance the tinkling, it is hard on your calf muscle and your ankle doing all those jumping steps. You all passed with flying colors. This is just one of what we do in our intramurals in the Philippines.
me too, im one who doesn't know how to dance tinikling hihi. In our school, only students who are members of dance troupe or members of glee clubs do. Pure Filipino here.
Salute to all these students. As a Filipino, I know how hard these dances are. I only tried "Tinikling" though. I could never dance in "Sayaw sa Bangko". Congratulations for doing an amazing job.
The first group remembered me of my group (Tinkling as long as I remember). Because my family also lived in Philippines for 5 years and I studied to a school, my parents chose public school and one day, the teacher asked us to do a folk dance and I was like “Oh my god, how?” But my classmates (teammates basically) were so nice to me and were willing to help me. They were all just so nice and the dance is fun and romantic at the same time. The dude I was dancing with is so kind and helps me everytime I would get my toe stuck with the stick. It was such a good memory. Lahat sila mababait. Ingat kayo lagi dyan, mga kababayan! Also, it took us 2 weeks to practice the folk dance.
group 3 looks like filipino students in a school from Phillipines and the students are just performing for Makabayan day for their grade. typical filipino thing
group 3 really amaze me cause performing tinikling is not really easy even if im very good of it I also sometimes got hit my feets with the bamboo so good job proud to be Fil
Group3 parang mga Pinoy sila that's why their performance is way better Hahaha tinalo pa "Pinoy Pride" at "Astig Pinoy" na naging contestant dati sa Showtime at wowow win😝😛
I'm truly excited watching these American kids who are not of Filipino descent doing a VERY FILIPINO cultural dance. Thank you kids for showing interests in other cultures that make up the American Culture, a very melting pot of cultures. 🥰🥰
I think they are filifino descent bec they are mostly half . I guess either their moms are filifinas or from immigrants families. It's warm to see this cultural dance brought up there ...kudos!
To ALL those posting critical comments on the students' performances or the lack there of, suggesting do this, do that , please REMEMBER that these students tried to LEARN THE BASICS of the dance in a short period of time for this event that looked like a SCHOOL PHYS ED activity with INTERNATIONAL flavour. They barely know the different NUANCES that goes with the BASIC STEPS. Most of them may look like Filipinos to you, BUT...... they are still AMERICANS who grew up in the US. My advice to you, STAND IN FRONT OF A MIRROR WHILE DANCING THE TINIKLING, RECORD IT, AND POST IT HERE ON RU-vid. The TALANGKA MENTALITY NEVER CEASES to AMAZE me. PEACE AND BE KIND TO ONE ANOTHER ESPECIALLY TO FILIPINOS.
Abroad..we call it Cultural Festival..its a celebration of different cultures represented by dances for a whole day. One of its purpose is connecting us to our roots even though we have schooled abroad. Some schools make it fun by winning prizes and stuffs like that so students give it their all 😊
My heart melted seeing kids on other side of the world dancing the famous dance folklore here in Philippines how overwhelming thankyou for sharing our culture
@@ethylgracegaviola What he means to say is, Since the Americans literally danced a Filipino dance, its like they felt being proud of themselves or they literally felt like becoming a Filipino (Sorry for my grammar)
If I am allowed to choose who win.... I choose the 1st.... Because at the end of the day... Tinikling is still a dance and not only an acrobatic. The 1st group understand the concept that is why you can see grace in their movements.
I know how hard tinikling is coz I've experienced it. That's alot of work since there are many of them. They did it perfectly. Thank you so much for the love for Filipino culture❤
i probably can relate in folkdances of the philippines since i've been a folk dancer since grade 1 to 4th year and competed in in provincial and regional tours during my high school. in contest proper criteria we don't usually modify steps and any required original elements of the dance, if so we need to submit modification to the organizer on what segment. modifications brings new technicalities and thrill to this folkdance. thank you for the upload, draws my memory back 20 years in the past.
Sana ma propagate natin yung kulturang sariling atin. Salamat sa video na ito. Nakakalimutan na natin ang mga sayaw at mga kulturang sariling atin na mga Pilipino. Thank you very much!
Typically and traditionally TINIKLING dance celebrated with colorful dresses ang vanderitas because of fiestas. And this is the modern type. They enjoyed doing it energetically. Good for the heart exercise.
I swear that Tinikling is like a minigame challenge in physical education. But seriously it takes a lot of practice to get the whole group's coordination right.
As A Filipino I'm so Impressed 😍😍 The Efforts is so muchh😳 And I especially love how the group 3 did u know tinikling and sayaw sa bangko at the same time and how they did the tinikling while spinning around is soo good😳😳💓💓
I loved it! Well i can guess pretty easily that their teacher must be a Filipino..to be able to teach that to his/her class! I love the energy of the crowd as well..so supportive ❤️❤️❤️
Learning to dance "tinikling" is such a SKILL! And you all beautifully nailed it guys!!!👏👏👏👏 Your performance speaks highly of these kids talents and patience. Salute to you all, from the Philippines!!!🙋🙋🙋🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
As a Filipino teen whose kinda brainwashed of the American culture, and to be compared to them right now, I'm actually kinda speechless... Embarrass for the fact too that I suck in it (Tinikling, etc). Furthermore, Sorry dear ancestors! I mean, I tried though...
You are all amazing and talented.... I'm a Filipino seeing other countries dancing our traditional dance makes me fell happy and I'm proud to all of my co students who dances ❤️❤️❤️❤️😘😘😘
POV: When you live in Australia and went to a public school where people cared little for cultures and you wish you went to another school that went all out like this on harmony day. Fast forward to 2021, you're now 23 years old and still cry when you think about it 😭😭
Me when I saw the thumbnail: 😯 Me while watching: 😲 oml- they're really good- the background music of the group 1👀 I'm literally singing along... Me after watching: my gosh- I'm so proud to be a Filipino 😊💅🏻✨ this literally bought a smile to my face💛
All the 3 groups were awesome putting hard work for sure to create a spectacular show. Tinikling such a classic Filipino folk dance, remembering the days when tinikling was a staple always featured on our annual school events. Thank you to everybody, love it!
Salamat - Thank you for appreciating The Philippine Folkdances and Music. I'm very much willing to help you if need some of our help, in the promotion of the Philippines Culture and Arts.
Wow! Love the different versions of Tinikling! That was one of my dances way back in college. Mabuhay ang mga dancers and choreographers for reviving our cultural dances even here in a foreign land, USA! Kudos to you all!
Wow Philippine ... Nakakaproud ka... Thankful to the organizers and all the people behind these very successful event... Praying for you more power and blessings from our God Almighty...
Ah, Tinikling brings back so many memories. I was once a stupid kid during middle school and I intended to hit the dancer's foot and blame it on my partner.
I love watching them all! So exciting! Wish they have consulted a Filipino dancer about this dance because they would have learned how to sway. But I am so proud they did it! Congratulations, Kids!
Wonderful innovative dance choreo. Congrats to the California FilAms who displayed fun & bravado in these traditional dances. Enjoyed them so much. Thanks
Hey, I really appreciate the fact that they had to learn all of these despite them being dangerous and stuff, I appreciate the effort you guys made while sharing our culture :)
Wow...its really enjoyable watching native folk dances....we usually watch this at home during festivals and fiestas...good day to all from philippines.
