I‘m a Swiss-Filipino (born, grew up and live in Switzerland). Haven‘t been to the Philippines for 3 years (couldn‘t go recently due to COVID), watching this video makes me happy and sad. Happy for seeing my favorite food at least through video , but sad because I dont know when I‘ll be able to taste it again... ingredients are mostly not available in Switzerland, so the only thing left to do for me is watch youtube videos about it :(

@@ragnadrabinowitz7629 Nah, there are so many food shows/vlogs that Philippines has been covered plenty. Bourdain went to Fil a couple of times. My gf is from Cebu so I have a pretty good concept of the food and it is of course derivative of Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, and Western cuisine. It has never been considered a major Asian food destination like all of the above countries or like Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, etc. I'm not saying the food isn't good, just that it is kind of fusion. Balut may be on of the few truly Filipino foods, and even that may have been popularized in China long before.

I was in Filipino town and it was disappointing, due to the restaurants are not in close walking proximity from each other. Heck, even the sign entering Historic Filipino town is far away from Filipino restaurants. There were not even that many restaurants, but sparsely spread out. Mike Chen did not show it, but he obviously had to drive a notable distance from one place to another. I crave and love Filipino food, but the accessibility in Filipino town sucked. Thai town was a different story, as a tourist could easily access one restaurant to another within the same block just by walking. There was a section, it had Thai restaurants side by side.

Because he will need to wash it after instead of finding the next food hunt or adventure. Even cleaning with tissue isn't really clean. Unless you want to buy his chopstick merchandise. He is pretty flex. Sometimes he use his hand, fork and spoon not always chopstick. He can show what kind of utensils they use or provide in the places he visits

Mikey, you were in my hood! I’ve been a fan since your 5lb dumpling episode haha. It was part of my bucket list to have you visit our restaurant one day but we had to close due to the pandemic... we pioneered ube pancakes and ube cookie butter and have been serving the valley and greater LA county for 12 years. I would love to send you some of our ube pancake dry mix, brotha 👊🏾😬

LA local here: You don't get tired of the weather that often. You just start distinguishing your sunny days! Sunny with no cover/clouds and no wind is a least favorite, because it gets ~too~ hot. But you also have smoggy days. Too much wind (ie Santa Ana winds). Etc. Sunny, with enough breeze to keep you cool, is the perfect LA day. Come during December thru February, and it's the best time for hot pot in LA. See if there's a place that has an outdoor patio, go at night, and enjoy the nice, cool weather with hot pot.
