The best part of Junk Journaling is watching great videos like the wonderful ones you do. The part I struggle with would be mastering my sewing machine, every once in awhile I give it another try, one day I will get the hang of it. You are so right about being surprised as to how much it takes to fill a journal. Love this journal. Thanks for sharing your talent.🇨🇦

I totally agree! Putting the pages together is so easy for me and I do still struggle with the decorating a bit but all of the tags and journal cards take me hours!!! I always say it’s because I need more things to chose from...more shopping! 😂 When I’m making all of my bits and pieces I ask myself “what would Tina do” so thank you for all of the help. 😊

You were talking about the parts of making a journal that we dread. I tend to over think everything creative so I’m trying to wing it more. Watching you really helps me work through the matchy matchy phase. Love watching your videos!!

Oh thank you so much. Yes, overthinking is another problem isn’t it? I think when it’s not just coming together easily sometimes it’s best to just break away from it for a while and then come back to it later. I struggle with the matchy matchy also x

Loving your journal process, your so correct the more pockets & pages the more empherma needed. So thankful you had started the mass making it’s so easy to just grab whatever is needed & keep going cause it was a pain just to make one thing and I started to give up on making journals. The kites I loved making those also!! So happy to have found your channel!!’ Thanks for sharing !! 🤗👏🏾

Tina, thank you for sharing that when you first started making JJs you felt overwhelmed and "still not done". I can't tell you how much I needed to hear that. I put my first JJ together a few months ago and it's still not full. I'm making stuff for it as well as two more JJs and that's what's been keeping me busy. I'm enjoying it all, don't get me wrong, but like I said, the first one just won't fill up! 🤔Plod on, I suppose. As always, I love spending time with you. Hugs all the way from the Southern California desert,MK ❤☀️🌵

Your journal is Soo lovely Tina! I enjoy listening to you chat~you have me chuckling at your commentary! We're definitely like minded gals! I personally like to make journals with tied in signatures so folks can add to the journal~an option if you don't like to sew them in. The critics might scoff at this but I have found there Are folks who like to just slip in a page they enjoy and make it their own. Typically the journals I create are larger and Irregular in size and even shape and require lots of fiddling and paper engineering to figure out the layout. Why I do this to myself, Lord only knows! Lol. After creating my own dyes, dying papers and fabrics, making everything by hand And repurposing odd items to add, I'm wondering When these labors of love might Actually be Finished! Tina, you're So right! You make All of these pieces to go in the journals, you have an entire Pile and...you need More! Lol! The Hobbit in us goes in search of More Bits and Bops~Stopping short of adding the kitchen sink! Sending Love and Blessings Across the Miles! 😊❤

@shabbydabbydoodah 3 года назад
Oh thank you so much. I love the idea of your style of tied in signatures, and you are right lots of ladies like the option of being able to add extra pages etc. Yes, it definitely takes a HUGE amount of things to fill a journal and I so often underestimate just how much is needed. Everything but the kitchen sink, lol 🙃 x

@@shabbydabbydoodah Such a Sweet reply Tina! Sending Love & Hugs Across the Miles! I haven't purchased any elastic, I used waxed thread, works fine! The pages do move ever so slightly, but Surprisingly, Very Minimally! Just enough give to slip in pages. If doing a 2 signature, I wrap around so there are 3 waxed threads Inside journal. I insert signatures on 1st and 3rd, leaving Center Thread Without any signature. This way you don't see empty wax thread on front or back of journal, but for ease of use, can probably leave one to far right open. There are elastic ties that you can get~already tied that go around boxes, etc. would probably work fine also, or of course traditional elastic. I Love Texture~will try binding with a fabric strip that has a little give to it and see if that works! Always a Pleasure Chatting with You!🥰 Have a Blessed Day! Lori

I have to say, I enjoy binding my journals. I can never figure out what to do with the pages, or how to really mix and match pages in my signatures, so they are all "plain" coffee or food dye pages, with a few corner tucks. I'm also not sure what exactly counts as embellishments, so I have made a few journaling cards, and that's about it. I'm still really new at this, even after watching a bunch of videos.

Tina, I love that little kite - did you do a tutorial of it? I'll have to check out Emily and her kite journal. I also really like the envelope pocket with the flowers bursting out of it - I'm going to use that. My 10 year old granddaughter loves journals and loves pockets but luckily she likes to fill them herself with her own little things; my challenge is to make the journal with no repeats on the pockets - every one has to be different. Pockets, pockets, pockets - my favourite part!

I love altered books, that’s where I started papercrafting many years ago. This journal is super pretty and I wish it was mine. I have a question about using the distress ink. I’m not sure whether it’s your camera or my screen but the difference is sometimes negligible. Is it just the screen or is it just that you are very careful not to overload the pieces? Could you mass make kites one day? That’s so pretty. Thank you as always. Back from holidaying in beautiful Shropshire. Sigh.

Yes, I love the altered books and have been challenged by Joie De Fi to join her and Barbara from 49Dragonflies in making one. HI, I have the same problem. At the end, filling, my mind is "finished" with the journal and not having enough to fill it is disappointing. Do you prime your pages with Gesso or any other medium before y ou start putting your emphemria on to it??? I did Gesso some pages before sticking down some pictures, and now find that the pages are inclined to be "tacky" to the touch, even though they have been drying out for days now. It also seems to stick when opening the book and you have to then pull them open. I wonder if you think that i don't need to prepare the papers???? - Blessings and love Diana Fox Cape Town
