Suchitra didn't even know the universe building in vikram. She watched it without context. Every major plot point is linked to a kaidhi's plot...and calling vikram loud (honestly it was not that loud) when KGF2 was the loudest...I think there was problem with the sound system of theatre
You need to develop a certain bandwidth required to grasp the different threads in the movie. Context is important, can you imagine watching endgame without watching other Avenger movies or watch Om Shanti Om without knowing much about 80s Hindi cinema?
@Sai Ashwin wtff dude...it's a universe film and not some shitty reference film...by your logic marvel films should stand on their own...but no, they won't...becuz the fckin story is linked...she literally said in her review that unnecessary characters pop up without any context...but context is there if you know kaidhi... The origin story of vikram is from kamal's 1986 vikram. But the movie team knew not many will have access to 1986 film, so didn't include anything from that film other than Vikram's character in this film.

They are calling jug jug jeeyo good film and great writing ....some of the scenes are straight away copied from marriage story...like that bedroom breakdown scene

Not a great fan of Brahmastra either. Watched it in 3D here in Mumbai. But gotta agree with Suchin here, that the world Ayan has created has the potential to escalate into something indigenously incredible and hit it out of the bloody park by the end of it all. Stoked for the sequel(s)/prequel(s)! In Ayan I trust.
I so agree with this. It's not that India is a hub of superhero movies. Ayan Mukherjee is trying to do something new and kudos to him that he took the leap of faith. Yes, there were a lot of flaws in the movie the biggest being the cringey dialogues but I am happy that atleast we are finally doing something in this genre.

You guys should definitely check out and catch upto Attack on Titan. It's one the most popular TV shows and its an absolutely incredible story and so relevant, it would be great to see a review too. In 2023 the final season will air. Would be perfect time to get into it.
Great discussion. Suchitra can spare her ignorance on South Indian movies. Suchin has good overall experience and better pick in my view for the movies released in 2022
The film All quiet on the western front is based on a novel, and in fact a film was made on it in 1930. The 1930 was is very good and I have watched it more than five times

The whole point of comedy is to comment on social issues. That’s really narrowing the scope of comedy, commenting on social issues is good and required in today’s times but that’s not the only thing that comedy should do.
I agree with dushyant in this one, as I would not want a film-maker to feel the pressure of creating a comedy movie that always has some socio-political commentary. I do love badhai do and doctor G, but I also will still want old school madcap comedies to exist, your hera-pheris and Welcomes etc
Why such snide remarks on Brahmastra VFX? It was the best in Indian cinema. Else go check every other VFX movie we have been making, Brahmastra still gave us the best VFX cinema experience. Of course, the story was a bit here and there.
Very few Movies and Shows other than Hindi shows and English shows were mentioned here which was a bit disappointing. And I don't agree Vikram is mass commercial cinema done right it's supposed to be loud it's an action flick and that's how you handle multiple stars in a movie and build a universe which Hindi film is trying to emulate with YRF spy universe and cop universe and all that nonsense.
Apart from the guy on the right, rest 3 of them seems like people who will laugh at something that the general population of this country will love terming them as illogical or regressive... Just making fun of Vikram and KGF outright without even trying to see them or understanding what it's trying to say...
Doctor G wasn't great at allz it was pretty average. I think Jhund was a very good movie, the experience was good and some scenes felt very real and authentic. Also, sad that they didn't see the masterpiece in Tamil - Kadaisi Vivasayi or even a very good Thiruchitrambalam

Thirteen Lives, Vengeance, The Northman are some few went under the radar, very good movies... My favourite of the year is Everything Everywhere. I felt every feel watching that movie, no pun intended...
