Some lovely photos, Anthony! This was really relaxing to watch. Would love to see more of these, especially with the fall colors coming soon (here in Belgium it's still quite green this time of year due to the warmer weather than usual). Your dad reminds me a bit of the actor Stephen Graham!

Thanks for watching vcfreek! Hopefully I can get out again in the next week or so to film another one of these with all the pretty fall colors. Loved that actor in Boardwalk Empire and Arctic Monkeys music videos.

Love this man. Seems like a great moment between you and your dad and tells an awesome story. Also totally understand the scanning issues. Can give the most beautiful colors or a huge headache

Hello Kyler, thank you so much for watching! I had a lot of fun hanging out with my pops. Do you home scan? If so what device and software do you use?

@@Antnie I’m using a v850 and I scan negatives in epson scan and then convert them in NLP. I’ve been playing around with scanning them with 0 adjustments and with the gamma adjustment that is recommended and honestly I like scanning them with no adjustments. The downside is that then I can’t use the dust removal and it takes forever to get a clean scan cause I have to go into photoshop. But yeah NLP colors are hit or miss for me but I want to put a few rolls through this new update because they are saying it’s more consistent and accurate

I’ll have to update the software and give it another try.

I feel like it might be a development thing, tbh. I have recently started doing some color developing and the scans are definitely a little bit of a challenge, so I think some sort of color cast emerged from that. I've never had issues scanning lab-developed Portra/color at home.

I don't shoot Portra 400 at anything less than at least a stop over exposed and I love the results I get. I use an Epson V600 and then Airdrop the files to my phone and use Lightroom Mobile to straighten my horizons and make minor adjustments. If you want some examples - @tyrelthings. Not saying I'm great or a pro by any means, just examples of colours/tones I like with Portra.

Hello Tyrel, thanks so much for watching! I believe that in this video I shot one stop over exposed. I'm using a V600 for medium format and Prime Film XAs for 35mm film. Are you just using the Epson Scan software? I just checked out and followed your Insta, really like the colors and tones that you are getting with your Portra shots.

@@Antnie Thanks man! I appreciate the follow and the compliment! Yeah, just the basic Epson software. The only thing I've changed with it was the update or whatever that makes the scanning process smoother and doesn't make you wiggle the mouse after every frame haha! Sometimes I'll play with the colour restoration or backlight but I never do any specific adjustments.

Haha I remember having that same issue

Hi Antie. I haven't scanned film in a while, i might have a little revisit. NLP is the eye ball test. I found the tones are normally off and adjust this by the tint slider in lightroom. Do you have a lab scan for reference?
@Antnie
@Antnie 4 года назад
Hello Steve! Only ever had 2 rolls lab scanned, one ColorPlus and one Delta 3200. I should probably have them scan a roll of Portra so that I can compare.

@@Antnie I would have a little play with the tint slider. You'll get it chap. 👍. That's going to be a good little series. Film and fishing with your pop.
