Hi, your speed will always affect the skimboard, but the wooden board would not help you in catching a wave and much less returning to shore with it. I suggest buying a carbon fiber skimboard or at least S-glass.

great vid, just one note of criticism, i hate how the video always cuts when you see a skimmer sideslipping hella far out, and then its like another clip of them catching a wave, why cant you just leave the whole clip?

hi, can a wooden board also ride on waves like those in the video? I recently started skim boarding...my board seems to sink the deeper the water gets. Maybe it's because I don't approach it with enough speed.
