Once he did the famous Prince smirk LOL! I was like of course that's him. He was notorious to look at people sideways & smirk. The PURPLE ONE the LEGENDARY PRINCE NELSON. A man who could be a band all by himself. He played like 26 instruments. Now who else can do that? What a great find of video footage! 👍 ❤
He was the Michael Jordan of musicians and funk! Damn, some people are just blessed in certain things, but it takes practice too. As author Malcolm Gladwell points out in his book- Micheal Jordan, Prince, The Beatles, Mike Tyson, Mozart, Bill Gates.......all these people put in over 1,000 hours of practice in the field they became masters in, whether music, sports or coding.
@Jesus is coming. Read the Gospel. The demon king is on earth now. G_D sent him. Your little bible and those fake words mean nothing now. Search " share his vision". He has the last message from your G_D now. Amen æl dimm thaRR
@@kevindube7096 here comes a narcissist, they always have a negative, a dig, to bring someone down a little here and there. Then they will say it was a joke! Everyone is excited, and praising. Then you limp in, and cut his image down a little! .you appear to be not a nice person but smooth about it
@@mimiya1814 wow why are you playing psychiatrist just because I lightly mentioned something that Prince (who’s genuinely one of my musical idols) was known to do? 🤷🏽♂️ Are you ok
Great to see real journalism. A reporter researching, checking and confirming something they could have just put as clickbait. Prince is my all time favorite
Who would’ve thought back then, that young boy would grow up to be one of the best musicians in the world and write and sing lots of classics, that will never fade away!
This is a great story. This could have easily sat unnoticed on a shelf, but as fate would have it we get one more look into a amazing musicians life. Thanks for the trip back in time.
A gem.... he was adorable and turned into a beautiful man.... I'm a true Prince fan and his music. A genuis and music will last a lifetime. R.I.P 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
@@pennieclinton6567 Why not? "Hey, Mr. and Mrs. Prince Family Member! Here we have some phenomenal footage we think is of your BELOVED family member at age 11. Could you help us out?" Who wouldn't FALL OVER THEMSELVES trying to help out?
Some things are just Irrelevant but seems like everyone who had nothing to do with him in the early years all of sudden become experts and historians who’s looking for plugs and recognition. SMH again.
This is why you can't compare him to Michael Jackson, MJ was number 1 on the charts at age 11 the main bread winner of the family who didn't need to go to school while Prince was still doing little kid stuff
@@a-train3503 Only (FANATICS) compare the two!. Both artist had their strengths and flaws!. One parent trained their child like a circus animal, the onther parent insisted that education must be finished beforehand!. Both approaches were successful in the final analysis!. Both artist became the Icons, they were destined to be!. ... lastly because Michael was cut off from his childhood development, it came at a cost!. He spent his adult life trying to compensate for it!. With songs like have you seen my childhood!. Also naming his park the Neverland ranch!. Not to mention, living in a basket case glass house. In crazy disguises, just to enjoy Disney resorts!. 💯😎
@@a-train3503 Wrong!. Prince recorded his first album for you at age 16!.it sat on the shelf for two years, because his parents wanted him to finish school first!. Before he could begin his career at age 18!. Michael himself was very open about his lack of a traditional childhood!. With the regrets of it!. That was the driving force of the song, have you seen my childhood!. That's why he choose the name Neverland for his ranch amusement park!. Which was for primarily for children!. He said as quote: he is Peter Pan at heart!. Neverland was the world of Peter Pan. The place where time stands still, and children never grow up!. Obviously you haven't done your research, or at the least a real fan, or historian of these two artists!.😎💯
Touching - and I love how even at that young age Prince advocates for his teachers so eloquently! He always had a way with words, which later came through in his lyrics.
The uncovering of this video was not an accident. Let us not forget the plight of the educators in the same district 52 years later. Prince hasn’t, he’s sending a message 😉.
He looked the same as he did as got older.. They never asked him what his name was..Who knew he would grow up to become someone of great prominence in Minneapolis many years later.
They likely asked his name before they started filming. It probably got discarded in the reporters notes when they didn't air the footage. The other kid Ronnie just had the presence of mind to say his name at the end of his comment.
Well also he is a very young boy there ..unfortunately wierdos out there can pick up his name and try to find and kidnappe him ! So that's probably why they left that part out for confidentiality purposes. he then became a true prince later In Time ! Epic
Wow! What an amazing find! Prince was just so darned cute as a kid, and with that same shy way of looking at people out of the corner of his eye. Interesting to know that this wasn't an affected gesture, rather it was natural to his personality. This really made my day. 😃 Thanks for sharing this with the world.
How could it NOT be him?? 😁 it’s really great to see this & affirming that, yes! This is true journalism & reporting! Really well done & really nice to see this! Thank you! 🙌🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
You can certainly tell that's him. He said more in this interview as an 11-year-old than he did when he was interviewed by Dick Clark just as his career was first starting to take off.
Yes! I was a kid when I saw his first performance on American Band Stand. All one-word answers in his interview with Dick Clark. In this video when he initially replied “Yuuup,” I thought, “Here we go again!” 😂
I was devastated when he passed. And I’m not a “#1 fan”….I’m definitely moved by his music, and would listen to purple rain LP over and over…..but when the world lost him, we lost so much more music from him. It is like losing ANY protege way too soon. I’ve heard he has hundreds of unreleased songs in his personal bank. I hope one day his trust will share them with the world.
He said some kind and wise words about the teachers. Gosh he's adorable. I could have asked about 5 people I know that grew up or dated prince back in those days to see if they could give any input
I've seen this piece before but after watching the whole piece it's pretty awesome to see a younger Prince and hear from his childhood friends I got a little emotional 😢 because it reminds us that we all start somewhere and he's human just like us impressive piece of work 👏
What a beautiful child, and well dressed care and thought put into his image and mannerisms. He truly developed who he was, great people change for no one, they just become more intensely who they are
My brother Jimmy Russell was with Prince. He's featured on 'A Rave Un2 the Year 2000 and is in the credits on the DVD. Jimmy never told Prince he is a Great Nephew of Bessie Smith. I always said I'm a Great Niece of Bessie Smith because it opened so many doors for me. I miss Prince and still can't watch him on his movies. Peace and love to you ❤
It's so very sad that he's not around anymore.. I'm so happy that he was so loved by many peoples and some of his songs are beautiful. I'm so proud to be a Minnesota native!
WOW, it's almost like opening up a time capsule and witnessing history right before your very eyes! 😃 Whodathunk that 11 year-old boy would grow up to be a music ICON! 🎤🎸🎵🎶
5:45 year I agree, when someone has that real wave of nostalgia wash over them, it's so beautiful. They know that that's prince, that clip means more to them then any of us regular fans. That's special.
💜💜💜 thank you for sharing 🙏🏼 I remember the day Prince died and I bought a purple ribbon and purple flowers to wear it on my upper arm on a white jacket - when I came out from the shop some light rain was falling on me from a clear blue sky, small drops, nicely and beautifully falling and I looked up into the sky imaging these magical raindrops was a lovely greeting from Prince to me 🤴🏾
I have been so into Prince lately. He is the greatest musician of my generation. I just saw “The Purple Reign, The Prince Tribute Show” in Vegas last week. It was impersonators of Prince, Morris Day & The Time, and Vanity. The show was magnificent! That was just a small sample of what a musical genius Prince was. There is no question that this was him in this video. It is so cool seeing him as a 10 year old. RIP, Prince, while your music and your legacy live on.
Funny how some kids grow into their adult faces eventually when you look at pics of then and now, but Prince had that smirk devilish cheeky smile long before he graced our presence with his talent. He was born to be PRINCE from the get go!! RIP
Actually, there's a lot more effort put into finding missing kids...by those paid to find them. Also, it's a lot easier to go from DT MPLS to the North Side to ask a few people, as opposed to finding a child that some nut has abducted...not even knowing who took the child in most cases. You're not the only one that wants these missing kids found, but to compare that to accidentally finding footage of Prince during the 70's teacher's strike(only because there's a current strike) is ridiculous!!!
Wow I’m glad he did that at that age and from some of his classmates we find out his interest in music was early that was fantastic to look at I never met the man personally but I get some of what he was trying to say through his music
Yes no doubt that's Prince he really kept his same look as an adult, so adorable what a find! I usually don't comment on here but just had to say something. RIP. Appreciate this being shared!!!!
What a classic. Prince in his younger years. By the way, I love this new Twin Cities Media page that is on RU-vid. It has all of the Twin Cities news broadcasting that goes back 40 years. Wow.
