Now this is why RU-vid is so brilliant. There's enough stuff in this to keep me going for ages. Isn't it great to watch a video about Logic which doesn't waste a second, doesn't start with someone telling you how wonderful they are, or trying to get you to subscribe? People subscribe because what they see is excellent and they want more. In nearly two hours I was not bored once. Incredible stuff. Thanks Jono
@@trevormadsen Very nice, just listened to your Lightkeeper score. Very good composition and production. Are you using real strings and instruments or sample libraries? And if so, which libraries, for strings, piano etc? Would love to know! Thanks, Chris
I wish I could take my money and throw it at Jono Buchanan. This has been the most helpful and absolutely concise demo and video I have ever seen with a DAW. I actually took hours pausing this video and inputing the exact same things into my own DAW as he went through the class and now I feel so much more knowledgeable about Logic on many different levels. Thank you so very much!!
Jono Buchanan is the essence of an Educator - generous, respectful of his audience, obviously likes youth (not jealous of) and is carefully prepared. He also has several videos of his own getting way less views than deserved. I learn so much from him! Thanks Professor and Guildhall for this impecable Masterpiece!
This is one of the greatest tutorial I have ever seen. It gave me some great ideas for both composing & visualizing music to video. As a singer-songwriter & band leader I often need midi generated charts on the fly for guest performers in a recording setting. Seeing this approach used validates my efforts. While writing, I layout percussion, keys, and bass in midi with my guitars & vocals. There is also the visual artist in me that realizes albums are no longer cardboard printed sleeves with vinyl, they are cinematic immersions. Composers are now filmmakers and cinematographers. I watched Springsteen's "Western Stars", and Queen Bey's "Black is King" recently, what an amazing way to tell a story. I thank the presenter and the Guildhall school for getting me one step closer to being able to achieve such dreams on my own.
This is just the way education should be. Articulate, informative, engaging and most importantly simple to understand.I still keep coming back to refer to it. Well done to Professor Jono. Thankyou!
An immense amount of content, and no filler. To be on for two hours and get all of these points across, while also functioning as the recording engineer, is absolutely incredible. Many thanks.
I never comment on videos but this video taught me more about Logic and scoring then any one of the TENS of THOUSANDS of videos I've watched since the Internet started. Absolutely brilliant in every way. Thank you!
I've had Logic X for about 9 years and collected many Logic "instructional" videos. Professor Buchanan in these days of super heroes you are a Super Educator, showing me breathtaking powers of Logic X related in a way that one can't easily discover. Your videos are In-depth, clear, concise, faultless demonstrations of Logic X matched by no other publication, free or paid for. Thank you for your hard work.
This was absolutely stunning. Seriously. What a wealth of information for absolutely free. Guildhall and Jono, thank you for putting this presentation out. As a starting, homegrown film composer without much actual academic training, this is the most valuable content I’ve come across yet.
An absolutely BRILLIANT display of mastery of Logic explained beautifully and clearly with no wasted time. This is indispensable for any film score composer. An EXCELLENT video! THANK YOU Guild Hall!
I only can say: This is an absolutely amazing walkthrough all phases of film composing, recording inclusive producing stems for the director. This master class is a must for everyone who wants to be involved into film music.

Brilliant video. I’ve been using Logic for 12 years now, and believe that when he mentioned that he’s only scratching the surface of logic, he means it. Thank you.
Let's hope the Avengers don't hear the Superhero bit! This is excellent work! lot's of useful information, as well as general Logic tips, etc. The logistics for this whole demonstration must have been a lot of work! Really good stuff. (Feel a bit sorry for the (unnamed) brass player who fluffed one note, especially as it was heard several times!)
Yes, especially since the camera was on him in a closeup shot right when he did it and you can see his reaction. I was surprised they didn’t take the time for a second take on this or even might have been a good time to demonstrate a punch in. ;)
thanks so so much for making this recording publicly available! This is so enourmously valuable and worth more than any of those youtube videos and how to's. Mr Buchanan spoke with such insight that it was hard to switch off!! Thanks again!!!!
Absolutely brilliant! Spotting, composition, development, scoring, recording, editing and final stems all in one overview. Oh, and LPX workflow tips. Nice job fitting so much into a less than 2-hr class!
havent even watched yet but think its awesome that you share this online for everyone to watch for free...and a quick scroll through the comments: its great to see such positivity you should be proud of yourselves for inspiring people like this
GENIUS PRESENTATION.Thank you so very much. I have learnt so much more about logic pro x key commands tools and stock plugs to speed/enhance up my work flow and tighten up my productions.
So incredible that I can watch this informative and really helpful content in RU-vid for free, There was no second in this video that was wasted, Thank you so much!
This is amazing! Thank you so much to all who were involved to produce this master class...and the professor Jone is great! Handle this kind of high complex classes and keep your focus all the time! WONDERFUL!
Nice educational content! Since advanced students are watching, he made a mistake saying the editor makes the final decision on dialog coming up above instruments but that is up to the sound mixers. Everything else was great!!! The use of the electronic drummer was incredible.
🙏🙏🙀 thanks and wow!! been learning cubase for a little more than a year now and i must say, apple really knows something about great user interfaces. i am in awe at how the interface makes the workflow so easy.
This is a brilliant video I am not a Logic user but there was a large amount of useful information that I can use for writing and mixing in my Daw. The 2 hours flew by. Thank you.
Absolutely brilliant! I was searching for that stemming solution using track stacks for so long....particularly printing aux tracks from stacks.... What a great class! Thank you so much!!!!!
Thank you so much for this video. Seriously one of the most helpful/informative tutorial videos on music production/film scoring I have ever seen! Wish I could attend that school!
Awesome!! This masterclass just gave me a ton of encouragement and information that I thought I'd never find for free on youtube! Amazing job, thank you isn't enough. God bless you!
I loved it. I ate it up. I waited to hear it with my satellite subwoofer playback system I use for mastering. This is such good information. So compact. So skillful. How wonderful to have the great auditorium with the acoustics and the musicians to come and perform with all the necessary microphones and A/D. A great product. An amazing product and amazing to watch this grow from the initial concepts to the finished product with no time wasted. Is professor Jono Buchanan available to serve as president of the United States?
I prefer if Logic Pro X has translucent colors for the regions for better visual to the eyes instead of intense colors for the regions. The waveforms of audios on the regions are fine.
