I really love this picture style. Could you please advise us on the best setting for exposing the video footage? Should we keep the white balance set to daylight even for a bright sunny day? Once again, thank you for this wonderful picture profile
Thank you, I'm glad to hear that you like it. Sure thing - I normally keep it in daylight all the time just like if it would have been actual daylight balanced film. But yes, sometimes you end up in situations where it might nog look that good and in those cases I try to find something that works in camera or I'll get as close as possible in camera and correct the rest in post. But then again, if you prefer another whitebalance than daylight - go for it!
I got this and portra and can’t wait to try them. Thanks for sharing them for free. I put little donation on both of them :) have a beer from me my friend.
I think you are the real master of picture style in my opinion.. i tried some other picture style before, but every picture style you created always amaze me.. thanks so much..
@@thomasfransson big thanks for replying my comment.. you are the best.. if it possible, i hope someday you would make some little tutorial/tips how to make picture style.. sorry if my english not quite good.. love and big thanks from Indonesia
Man I have been trying my own of the v3 500T but your looks really good I'm going to have to check it out thanks you have been a big motivator for me getting back into photography with my Canon EOS M thanks 🙏🏾 #keepfilming
Hey that's awesome, glad to hear you're getting back into the game! Thanks, I haven't shoot with it tungsten wb that much yet. So keep me let me know what you think. I've gotten some of my favorite results using older softer and less contrasty lenses. If helps glue everything together. That and sometimes removing some sharpness in post.
I stumbled upon your channel looking up if it's possible to add film simulations to Canon (since Fujis are so damn expensive), and you did it! Thank you so much for providing the presets, I love it on my R!
I know that unarchiver will work on mac as I asked a friend who's on mac to verify this. So hopefully that will get it sorted. If not I would Google on the file ending (can't remember if Crowdak is .rar or .zip) and "mac" and there should be plenty of options regarding soft. That and perhaps download the file again
Thank you so much!! Your tips really makes the whole experience upgrade. I was thinking about buying another camera just because I love film simulation. Now you just save the money for me✨ The filter looks amazing!! can't wait to try😍
Good question, I'd say California Cowboy would be my go to for scenes with a lot of greenery and times where I'd want a bit more punch. While the crowdak is milder and a tad more neutral in comparison.
Hi, amazing picture styles. Does it work on the canon 650d? I will travel to north of Italy for a road trip (Venice, Verona, Milano etc.) Which picture style would suit these scenarios and landscapes? Which picture styles of your would you recommend? thanks a lot
There's a list of verified camera models in the description. Sounds like a nice trip. Crowdak is pretty allround. You could also check out the ones in the California Cowboy pack for landscapes and that sort of stuff.
I've not tested or gotten any confirmation from 70D users as of yet. 50D users have confirmed picture styles working thou. There's a list of verified camera models in the description of every video related to picture styles. Those models have been reported by users as working/compatible models. As for settings goes, make sure you're in full manual mode as auto modes seem to disable customization of settings on several Canon camera models.
@@thomasfransson thanks for the response!ps you’re a cool guy replying to almost every query i see😅you’re trying your best man you’re gonna go big one day keep at it!i subbed and liked:D
@@lelong822 easy to install on the m6ii and it looked great! definitely interesting to see the look be more subtle or dramatic in different lighting scenarios!
Awesome, thank you for stopping by. For the G7 I believe there's a software called picture style registration tool. I made a video about G7 asking users to share their process in the comments on that video.
Hi there! I love your presets, these film-like filters. But it seems like it does not work for my Canon 600D as I don't see any difference in my photos. I shoot in JPG, not RAW, and I followed your instructions on how to install custom picture styles. Yet it does not make any difference at all. Do you know why this is the case?
Would love to load this on my Canon, but the PF3 file is unusual. Can not find anything so far for Mac to open it. The Unarchiver tool you mentioned for Mac will not recognise it
That's weird, not sure what could be the issue. I just released this tutorial where it's un-rared on mac. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-D3BdqWdnFaw.html I believe gumroad adds a second layer of compression (also rar) )at times so sometimes it's a rar compressed rar file containing the files.
@@thomasfransson So sorry mate, I'm just an idiot lol. Thought I had to extract it, then realised to just load it into the EOS utility. Took a couple sample shots and loving it.
Fantastic. Thank you for this. I am looking forward to trying it out. For the sake of updating your list of cameras, I am using it on the Canon 1DX Mk 2.
Your picture profiles are amazing, thanks! Do you know where I can find the list with 158 other picture profiles online you recommended? I can’t seem to find it anywhere :)
Thank you. Yes, not sure what happened to that collection. Maybe it was taken down by the owner. I believe I even saw some of my profiles in there, so maybe it was a copyright issue if some other copyright owner reacted.
Looks amazing…I’ve just bought a 5D mk ii and would love to try it….but your page says the following "The format is .pf3 which is supported by newer models (aprox 2015 and newer)”…does this mean I might experience problems installing it on th 5D mk ii becasue that camera was released way before 2015?
Yep, but I've gotten confirmations on that model from a couple of sources so it might work. Canon was the ones who said "around 2015" when I asked them where the cutoff was ;)
I been trying to install the filmic picture style but when I’m selecting the folder through the canon facility it says that the folder is empty. Help please
It needs to be extracted properly with either winrar (pc) or unarchiver for mac If not, you will only see a .zip or .rar file instead of a. Pf3 file in the directory where you downloaded the file.
Thank you, I'm actually not sure I haven't seen any reports on 60D in terms of working or not. If you do give it a try, let me know if it works so I can add it to the list of tested cameras.
I see that G7X MkII is on the list but EOS Utility does not recognize camera...Anyone got a solution for this? (Naturally I would think it is not possible since it is not a EOS camera)
Dear Thomas, I have a question: how could I overcome the fact that sometimes the black color gets too strong, when I use crowdak? What I mean is gets too intensive compared to other colours, maybe its also because of the nd filter... Btw, I make many or most of my videos with your picture styles, if you want, I gladly send some pictures I took with them.
That's a great question, I normally shoot everything on iso 400 with a vnd (1-8 stops) and that usually works great for me. You can go into the settings for the picture style (on your camera)and lower the contrast one or two steps and see if that does it. Cool, I'll head over to your channel and check them out
what a great video, by the way can you try to make a pf2 version of your picture style and install it on some older canon dslr series like 60D? some people just want to try your good picture profile on their old camera, thanks in advance 😄
I've been meaning to do a set of pf2 profiles, but I've been putting it off. I wanted to clean the sensor on that old Canon of mine. But I never get to it 😅🤣 Maybe a few dust specs isn't the whole world. Thank you I'll put the battery in the charger tonight.
Thanks a lot for all these incredible profiles. Big fan of filmicbase . Will check this new profile too. Too bad canon have slots for only 3 profiles. Do check if u can replicate the same for Lightroom also. I remember day when I was taking pics and was blown away by the beautiful colors but later got disappointed when returned to home as I was shooting them in raw.
Thank you for connecting. It makes me happy to hear that you enjoy the colors. Haha, yes those 3 slots are not enough ;) There might be a work around in the meantime while I work on those LR profiles. Will seen if I can test it out and make a video about it soon.
Hey bro. How can i edit my pictures profile like yours? I can't download your links cause i don't have a laptop. So maybe there's other way to get this look on my m50.
Oh that's a good question, I haven’t used that one so I can say for sure. But I do have a Portra profile available. Maybe that'll get you down the right path
@@thomasfransson thank you so much, i decided to download your crowdak film on windows computer, i set up the eos utility app but no matter what i did, i disabled wifi but it doesnt see the camera. what can i do?
A couple of things, sometimes you need to try a few downloads of the eos utility, making sure it's specifically supports your camera model. I think I downloaded the one I'm using from Canon Asia even though I'm based in Europe... It could also be the cable, could be a bad cable, a cable with only charging leads a no data leads... could also be a g series camera that utilizes the Picture Styles Registration tool from Canon instead of eos utility. And make sure your camera is in photo mode. There might be a few more tips in my tutorial video
Hi! Cool picturestyle! I'd like to know if there is a way to use the style as a raw-preset and how to get this done. I usually shoot raw. last time I shot jpg was 2011 due to its limitations in terms of editing. So here's my question : how did you edit this style and how could I recreate this 'like seen' in Lightroom? Thank you for your styles anyway, 😊
Sadly there's no LR versions of these profiles. The main idea was to make something that would look "edited" sooc and be treated more like shooting film. What you get is what you get ;) But I totally get RAW shooters, I shoot a lot of RAW too. When it comes to replicating it's a lot of curves and HSL adjustments. Reference images and tons of testing to make it behave for shooting in different conditions and preserve things like skin tones. But great to hear that there's an interest for LR presets.
@@thomasfransson of course it's a good idea to make it cool looking ooc, I appreciate this, and I think it's a lot work to get this done properly, but there is definitely an interest for lr presets/profiles (I think it's not only me who is interested in this :)) I would really like to edit raw/dng in this look. Thanks for your answer and your great work.
Please do! I love seeing what other creatives are doing with these. There's also a mail filmiccanon@gmail.com where I encourage people to send in their work done with these. When There's enough material I'll make a video featuring the shots
The R50 have been confirmed by several users so there's still hope. If you’re using some sort of auto mode on your camera, this usually hinders the use of custom picture styles. Also make sure to use a data cable and not a charging cable to transfer the files. On my channel there's a step by step video - How to load film simulations on your Canon camera" I hope this will help.
I would try a different cable, make sure camera is in stills mode and try a different version of eos utility. Sadly it's not possible to make these changes in camera like you can on Fujifilm cameras.
@@thomasfransson yeah found out since the EOS M2 doesn’t use the extra sharpening settings it won’t let me use the crowdak picture profile. I can copy some of your basic settings but that’s about it.
Oh, do you mean the fine detail profile? I know that profile caused some issues and I've released alternative versions not based on that base profile, but from memory that was only a problem with the California Cowboy pack
I’d like to pay u for this profile… but I live in Russia and we can’t pay for anything from Europe and US cuz they blocked our visa and MC cards for international usage. So I can just say thank you for doing grate job. I wish remember to get back and donate something to u when these political games ends
There's more introductory videos on custom picture styles on the channel. They should straighten out any question marks. Like this one: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8HqhEn5Y-o4.html
