Ryan Poles has admitted on several occasions that Justin Fields was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. He was drafted by a lame duck regime on one of the oldest and overpaid rosters in the NFL. I wish him the best in Pittsburgh 🐻⬇️

He can’t read defense. Slow footwork …slow long release so nothing in the quick game.

Fields is kind of a tweener. He has the athletic profile, size, and arm talent to be a scrambling QB like a Josh Allen or Steve Young, but he lacks the creativity, pocket awareness, and improvisational skills. However, stylistically, Fields wants to be a classic pocket passer like he was at Ohio State, but he lacks the field vision, fearlessness, and post-snap processing skills that would've allowed him to trust his eyes. A lot of his weaknesses were covered in college due to having studs at the receiver position (four of who eventually became first round draft picks). What you have in Fields right now is basically a Kaepernick or RG3 type of QB who would've benefitted from having Greg Roman as his OC to get the most out of his physical tools while masking his mental deficiencies at quarterbacking.

Fields is too inconsistent. He seems like a good dude; smart (3.9 gpa), hard worker. Hopefully he will progress into a competent NFL QB because the NFL needs competent QBs.

Fields never saw the field well or played fast enough. He often missed wide open receivers, worked himself into pressure or sacks. He’s not a good qb.

Seems like everytime he found himself in a clutch situation, it blew up and resulted in a loss. Gotta put some of that on Fields

Poor Fields. I think he's very underrated

He wasn't great but one thing that stood out to me whatching his last two seasons is there were lots of times at critical moments in the game the recivers would just drop the ball. The most frustrating time i saw this happen was when Moony droped a past on the last play of the game to lose to the browns in a very close game.

I'm particularly interested in this because of the offensive coordinator for the Bear's. Rrrrraiders 🏴‍☠️🔥💯🏈

He hiked the ball too early. That's SIMPLE. He didn't even let his WR in motion get past the LT.

Ridiculous waste of time get your eyes fixed. Justin resisted Coaching he thought he was good. The fact Getsy got hired shows you it was Justin. Ohio State made him. Move on go watch that loser in Pittsburgh who didn't pick up his option and want to make him a gadget player

As a avid Bears fan who watched basically every Justin Fields snap, I can say that I think the mental block was too strong for him, but he's also a really good case of a team not setting a player up for success and the overall result that can have. His first substantial playtime was against Cleveland where he got sacked what felt like 10 times, most of which was by a DOMINANT Myles Garrett and was definitely not all his fault, because the coaches were leaving their O-Line on islands against one of the best pass rushers in the league with a rookie QB behind them. These are the types of decisions that ultimately got Matt Nagy fired, but the ghosts of those games seemed to follow Justin throughout his career. And as a final comment, you mentioned that he would often put the ball in harms way. I think his real issue is that he wouldn't gunsling enough. You did mention he wouldn't throw to open receivers, and while I think that can be a product of him not seeing the field well, it was also 100% him not trying to turn the ball over. Matt Eberflus was constantly talking about protecting the football and it was most likely something he pushed on Fields and you could tell Fields became very conservative with the football in close games late last year to his detriment.

Holding onto the ball too long and being a run first qb. He has all the intangibles and in a better situation to develop could be a franchise qb.

I don't care who you are if you don't jell with your team mates and or coach you are not going to play well plus if you are in the wrong system same thing .

Justin Fields was never given support in the form of offensive skill players. He had only two competent receiver. D J Moore and TE Cole Kmet. Both had career years I (the best statistical years of their careers) with Justin.
