Film Study: Why does Dak Prescott seem so inconsistent at times for the Dallas Cowboys? 

When he’s nervous which is normally against the good Teams his footwork and timing falls apart and he makes bad decisions.

As with all of these Dak Prescott is this or that comparisons or lists. It's truly an objective to the subjective conversation. If you go purely objectionable no eye test strictly numbers and metrics amongst his peers Dak is Elite. Top 5 and he is not 5. If u go off narratives, arm talent, the Cowboy's national spotlight, and playoff team success. Then he is very mid. Dak seems to be the only QB examined this way. You made a mistake in your analysis of Dak. Who are you considering great QBs? Let's go through the usual QBs named Mahoomes is not in this discussion. Everyone knows he is Highlander. Outside of him here are the QBs people consider to be elite Josh Allen, Joe Burrow, Lamar Jackson, and Justin Herbert. Numbers-wise wise whether advanced or traditional stats they are not comparable to Dak. This is just facts. Justin and Lamar haven't played well in the playoffs. U can watch films on both those QBs and see their failures the same as Dak's. Josh and Burrow have been slightly better but Burrow was carried by an incredible defense that kept scores low and allowed his offense to get on track late in games during his playoff run. Josh on the other hand has some special moments in the playoffs but his team has been unlucky a couple of times and his inconsistencies have also reared their head during the playoffs. What I am saying is that using Dak as this barometer of failure due to playoff success is a misnomer. Especially when not applied across the board. Here's the truth. Dak is an elite QB that plays nervously in the playoffs. He has carried the Cowboys to Number 1 offensive rankings the past 3 years. A QB that does this over time is not mid. He is elite. He needs to play up to his abilities in the playoffs then this discussion would be moot.

Lol WR depth a few years ago Prescott had Amari Cooper (all pro), Michael Gallup (1k yards WR), and CD Lamb (all pro) on the same squad. Prescott failed with that one too. The excuses are never ending ... P.S. you can't keep depth when Dak eats up so much cap, reality

Cowboys lose in the playoffs because they lose in the trenches. It really isn't that complicated. Watch their last 4 playoff losses and that's is what's evident on tape. Where Dak can mess up is he tries to do too much at times when he doesn't necessarily have to which makes a bad situation even worse. He needs to work on that. Outside of that, he's one of the best quarterbacks in the game.

Honestly, trying to make excuses for Dak at this point is insane.

The only fact that has been the same fact for 28 years Dallas needs a run game. I can tell you guys do not know football. Playoff teams are those who can run the ball and stop the run. It's quite simple ... Dak is a fine mid tier QB but paying him 1/4 of your cap is suicidal and guarantees you will not win a championship. If Dak was going to win a SB it would have been when he was cheap. Dak doesn't carry bad to mediocre, he needs superior talent ... This is why he only beats up on bad teams and when the windows get tighter he has the same shell shocked look on his face.

Their coach has a long history of folding in big moments. His offense is good but against good defenses it's predictable.

Would be funny to see you do a Derrick Henry vs Zeke comparison after the Cowboys have not only turned down Henry once at the draft but twice now after giving him zero attention and getting Zeke back this free agency. In a non schematic sense, Prescott's play ia always under scrutiny because he plays the most important position on the most famous team in North American professional sports. He's this generations Danny White who was a good quarterback but could never fill the large spikes of Roger Staubach. Prescott replaced guys like Kellen Moore, Brandon Weeden, and Matt Cassell so the comparison is not unflawed but probably fair. Prescott's career remains far from over and is far from being a poor or mediocre signal caller. With all the criticism he may be the best quarterback in the NFC. In evaluating signal callers there is usually more opinion than facts. Look at his resume', 2016 OROY, NFL 2nd Team All Pro 2023, and a 3X Pro Bowler. Where are you going to find that? I know recently there are rumors that the Miami Dolphins may have an interest. I've got news for you guys, I would take him over Daniel Jones in a heartbeat! He's a solid NFL QB.

I get your points. Dak and dallas in general struggled against good teams. Like barely any motion against the good teams. We also had 0 run game the entire year basically so the whole pressure was on the passing game. Saying Dak isn't a great QB is kind of a wild lol but him and the cowboys have to overcome the playoff hump.

Dak in 8 seasons has proven who he is . And that is fools gold a front runner beats up and pad stats. on bad or injured defenses. And struggles disappears or choke against good defenses. Unless the cowboys run game or defense dominates.
