If someone says something with the intention of speaking highly about someone's qualities, but the receiver does not see it that way, then it isn't a compliment on the receiving end, no matter how the speaker meant it. If someone says a joke and it's not funny to you, the whole point of a joke is to be funny, so if it is not funny, it's not a joke to you, even with someone's intention of making you laugh. It's all about how it's received.

Considering a lot of people found it funny, and it wasn't criticized until the media got involved, i think it was a pretty good joke.

I'd say every joke is making fun of someone or something, but not to the extreme of hurting them. For example, if you make a self-deprecating joke, are you offending yourself? Or are you just making fun of yourself? When you make a pun, you make fun of the English language, but you're not really offending anyone who uses the language.

Yes - also, the discussion about how repeated phrases can cause people to believe them was so _completely_ misused for the purposes of this video. Examples he cited were about UFO sightings and scientific news coverage; which somehow leads him to believe that the studies make it "scientific fact" that people people seeing the words "Hitler did nothing wrong", causes them to believe it. Been a long time since I had a physical cringe, it's not pleasant.

I think more people would inherently trust the media. To them, sensationalism about flying saucers is actually the affirmation of their existence. The glowing box in the living room would never mislead me for ad revenue

Tosh was just an asshole. Louis obviously thought on what he is saying. I think comedy can be a great weapon to make changes and make people think, but that is never going to happen if people keep thinking "being edgy" (saying whatever wrong thing they want to have attention) is comedy. It isn´t. They are just kids trying to be edgy.

I agree i just think some people have a fear that things will eventually get to a point where people will actually just spew out whatever hatred and bigotry they want to and then just claim that it's "dark humor" or "just a joke". Fear tends to rule the lives of a lot of people nowadays... whether it's the fear of being taking over by an overly PC culture or the fear of being surrounded by a bunch of hate being covered by the veil of "comedy"

If people are just being assholes and trying to disguise it as comedy, which Pewdiepie wasn't, then it's fine to astrocise them for their behavior. On the other hand, as you stated, there is a fear of things being overly censored, where no jokes can be even slightly controversial, which personally I'm more worried about as that gets closer and closer to becoming reality.
