So thankful there are actual professional videographers making videos about their gear instead of the mass amounts of people that only make camera reviews with their gear. Oh yeah I got my A7IV a couple of days ago! Getting myself intimate with all the settings before I head out.
I don't think Sony a7 IV is mostly used by professional videographers. So probably most would take benefit from the videos that you complained about...
@ Actually movie and TV videographers would be less likely to use it but the A7III was extremely popular among professional wedding, event, and stock videographers. Most of the RU-vidrs I'm referring to will be making a new video of another camera or drone offered to them by manufacturers before even a week passes by.

@@JayWandersOut I get you and yes, I can understand it. But still, I just think every opinion matters to someone if not another... Appreciation doesn't need comparison. That was my feeling :)
What helps my understanding tremendously is following a professional's workflow using the "tool of choice" - this is what sets you apart from the many content providers that simply run through menu settings and/or regurgitate company product marketing material. Thanks for allowing me to benefit from your real-world education regarding the "What", "Why", and "How."
Thank you sssooo much for your videos about your new A7IV. Just got mine but am new to this. YOU are making me feel more and more comfortable about my A7IV commitment.
nice to see a real world usage of the camera and the compensation for the minor crop issue. can't say any professional I know would drop a camera just because you need to change lens for for 50/60frames mode but reading the youtube comments you could end up thinking there are no professionals in the community LOL 😂
Glad someone made a video about how it performs on a professional shoot instead of nonsensical b-roll youtubers, i was thinking on getting it cause it was amazing on paper, now that i see this video, i'm all set. Obviously subscribed
Yes, that's exactly what I like to do videos on too. Take the gears out into the real world and work with it in real situations. Then, come back and report about the experience and what could've been done better after some reflection. Thanks for the video. Keep up the good work.
Appreciate the review, agree on the crop.. in studio work, if the DP or director wants a 35mm 4K, they get 35mm 4K. No excuses on the crop. They'll just tell you to throw the camera away and get another camera.
When it comes to motion pictures, 35mm wasn't the same as 35mm in still photography. For a long time the cinema standard was Super 35, which has a crop factor similar to APS-C (1.5). That has started to changed with the advent of full-frame cinematography.
Really do love these behind-the-scenes explanations into how and why you use the gear in any given situation. Like you know it's not always about the gear but how you use it. Really great stuff. Saving up to get my own sony a7iv coming from a Canon 70D, but im still shooting and pushing myself to use what I have to get good at the work flow.
Make a video about the requirements you use for you set such as lens Lights type Would be helpful for beginners like me on a low budget but I already own a sony a7iv
Excellent content here 🙌🏽💯👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 I’m still rockin x2 a7Riii’s and an a6600 as I’m equally a hybrid shooter and need high res photos + high end video features. I would have absolutely upgraded all 3 cams to the a7iv if they unlocked the crop and also a few minor things. My Riii’s also crop in 4K, which I’ve adapted to, but would be nice to not have that. This new cam and tech does give me great hope for what’s next in the line up for sure. You’ve got a new sub here! Cheers! 🙌🏽💯📷
Hi from Norway! As an owner of two Sony A7IV cameras I really appreciate you sharing your experience using the A7 IV as the main camera when shooting a professional commercial! I also liked the visual layout for the shotlist at 07:20. What kind of software do you use for designing and setting up shotlists? Subscribed! :-)
very good and we appreciate to watch backstage of real work but we appreciate also some final result of the real work and it is rarely shown by other video creators and you show us part of the final result and I appreciate it. The 767 thumb up is mine and I subscribed to your Chanel.
ThAnks for the video! Soo nice to know the A7iv is capable in a professional shoot! Hopefully one day I can be on your level hehe. Thanks again for all your content
Amazing insight and breakdown! Been watching your videos from time to time, but I think it's time I sub! Keep up with the great work and would love to learn from your experience.
Top video mate, would like to see more of these. Very interesting to see how the A7iv performs in a professional video environment! That hotel did look a bit bland to work with hey! Where’s the colour 🪴
I know this video is old but I have to sub. I just got the A7IV but this video really helped me. If you see this can you please link me the rig parts please? and that long gimbal extention I have no idea what it is called.
Jason, great videos man! I just picked up a a7 IV so I really appreciate you sharing your knowledge and experience with it. Extremely helpful! What is the cage you’re using on the iv in this video? The Tilta for the iv isn’t released yet here in the US. Is there a cage for another camera like the a7siii that is compatible with the iv? Thanks again for the outstanding content! Keep up the good work! -Gary
Hi Jason! a very urgent question for you; this saturday i will have a wedding and i don't want the overheating of the A7IV. Which is the best solution? buy the atomos ninja V and rec by it or the v battery? i don't understood. Thanks so much
Looking to move back into professional video production, and seriously considering the a7iv as my starter camera. Thanks so much for the info! PS some of those rigs you use look amazing.
Did you try a wider lens than 24? For indoor shots. Or step down 4k 30fps or change shooting resolution or maybe more different several angle shots from room...sometime it takes several takes...also lighting is important rather sources from windows sun ceiling etc.
Awesome video! CAN ANYONE ANSWER THIS: what lens would be the best one to mitigate that crop in 4K 60fps? I’m struggling to figure what would be the most effective option. 😅
Ahh the choice of getting the FX3 or A7S3 OR A7VI is getting harder and harder... Yes the price of the A7VI is half of the FX3, But for the cropping thing and lowlight performance the FX3 is just better as I understand.... I will do Video mostly and the goal is to create as high quality video production as possible with my gear. My goal is corporate, real estate and after movies... Anyway... Loved watching your video again and hopefully I can start my channels soon once I have the budget for it.
After watching this video, I took my A7iv out for a test shoot. I found this 5-foot wide water fountain near my home to test with. I was using the Viltrox 24mm f/1.8 lens. I shot the fountain at 24fps. Then switched to S&Q to shoot at 60fps. In my S&Q shot, I only had to step back 1-1/2 feet (0.467 meters) to achieve the same composition as the 24fps shot. As a filmmaker of narrative films, I don't have an issue with the 4K 60fps crop. Whatever camera I'm shooting with, I adapt to its limitations when needed. In the case of 60fps, I don't shoot in that frame rate that often. If I did, I would plan for it. In the case of my fountain shot, the 4K 60fps crop had very little effect on my choices when it came to composition.
Great video! More of that. I really like you studio background 💪 What program are you using to create storyboards like that? I have it all in my head for my commercials, because drawing takes way too much time. I of course plan in writing and with notes, but that is not easy to bring on a shoot
Thanks for your experience with the A7IV on this commercial Jason. I was wondering what would be the advantages/disadvantages if you were to do the same shoot with no rig at all. Would you be able to achieve the same result and how much more difficult it would be. Thanks.
No rig would mean no external video for directors monitor. Would need a monitor Mount. Potential for changing batteries more often. Having to power other accessories with their own battery. No handles. Etc. many advantages for cages but clean rigs can still do the same job. Right cage for the right job
Hey Jason great video as always. Question: what is the Ninja V mounting arm you are using on the cage? I assumed it was Tilta but can’t seem to find it online? Thanks and keep up the great content.
Hey Jason, off topic question but how do you maintain a gym routine while doing film work? Sometimes I find myself in situations where I can’t go and it’s really messed up my routine to where I don’t even go anymore due to work. You and this one other RU-vidr are like the only ones I’ve seen who do film work and look like they work out a lot. I miss being fit 😂
Hi Jason, thank you for the great content. I have the a7iv and am having trouble sending 4K 60 to atamos ninja v… I get no signal. 24 and 30 comes in clean. I am not trying to capture external raw, just prores422. Am I doing something wrong? Thank you all for your help.
Absolutely missed the fx6 on this job. Specially the variable ND filter. I am much more use to exposing correctly the fx6 but it comes down to usage time and experience on that camera
Interesting to see you work with the A7IV which I just got this last Monday . About heating I had issues just by scrolling the menu’s several hours …I was going to call the store where I bought it on Monday . Do you have any idea what I am doing wrong maybe ? Love this kind of videos and content Have a happy new year 2022🍾🥂 Serge H&S 👩❤️👨🌈🇨🇦
@@tre.portrays Thanks for the reply! I'm a bit stupid but does that mean if I use for eg: a 16mm APSC SONY LENS whilst on 4k 60fps, it'll still be a 16mm focal length 4k 60fps? Again sorry I'm a bit stupid at times
@@PrimVB Never feel stupid for asking a question to gain more knowledge!! But yeah, the focal length of the lens will remain the same, but the crop of the lens will be 1.5x as the lens mount is designed for a smaller imaging circle. So, 16mm x 1.5 = 24mm equivalent.
you know they care about their work when a 2 to 3 second shot is removed because some white on a wall that an ordinary person wouldn't acknowledge. That is dedication.
So I have an a7iv , I’ve shot run an gun it’s awful hot conditions through the day but in 1080/60 with no overheating . I want to shoot 4k60 but I’m worried about over heating because a shut down would be the absolute worst . Would using a ninja 5 help keep the heat in the camera down ? I’ve asked multiple people . Some said yes absolutely and some said it would not affect the cameras heat at at . So i don’t know what to do . Thoughts ?
Hi Morris. Nice video as always. I’m wedding videographer and now trying to get into corporate. But the hard part is finding clients. Would you share the way that you find tue client? I tried to dm some business and offer free shoot. But most of them declined the offer so I don’t really know where should I start. I’m running business by myself so no marketer or agency connection. Thanks Morris
Your best bet is to have a portfolio. Businesses would love to see your work before they accept any offer or pay. Create a fake ad and show them what you can create that is specific to them
