Regarding fishing lines: I spent some time trying to catch Turnstones that had lines wrapped around their feet. Horrible. One could not even hop properly on one leg. It was no good, though. With the stuff I had brought I could not do it. Too small net, too fast birds that could still fly well enough. Most fishermen around were unimpressed...

I like birds, especially in the wild, it's starting to be hard to find wild birds where I live, always be healthy, friend

I had the Miller head but after it got nicked I ended up using a Manfrotto N8, far better than the 501 and doesn’t creep at all. There is a new version out now but cannot remember the model. Plenty of used N8 heads available unlike the Miller and cheaper too. Love the purple sand footage. Excellent work

Great footage! Great scenes and thechnically very usable even with all the extenders. I use G9 II for stills and I got used to very quickly. I also finf the IQ slightly better. But the tripod seems to be the most important piece of gear for video work.

Great video - I have similar issue taking photos with the Panasonic GH6, know exactly what to do with videos, have to really think to take photos! I find the 2x tele and 150-400mm all the time for video. With the GH6 and pixel to pixel mode (1.5x crop) its equivalent of 3000mm at 4K, which has given me some great footage of far off birds and mammals, but also tiny bees and even 4mm Velvet mites! How was the AF on the G9 mkII with the 2x tele?

I've been watching your videos for years here in the states and my wife and I will be going to Callaly (Alnwick) for a week after a Scotland tour. I have difficulty walking more than a 1.4 mile and would love some ideas about spots for bird photography at the coast that are handicapped friendly. Any ideas would be appreciated.

I'm not sure why Panasonic didn't just keep the original G9 body and give it the phase detect. I guess to charge more money 😂

The old rule of thumb was 50mm = 1x magnification, so you were shooting close to 100x magnification field of view……..
