Little owls are becoming scarce. There are no longer any birds on the estate where I normally photograph.
I visit Brine Pit Farm in Worcestershire to photograph them.
www.brinepitwildlifephotograp...
They have a number of hides here suitable for photography. Little owl, Kingfisher, Kestrel, Reed bed hide and a reflection pool hide. All are well built and very photogenic.

Mike, you're like a good wine getting better with age. Just so lovely to watch and good to understand some of the intricate technicalities for me as a non-photographer. Your photos were always great when you gave your talks to our society so its great to see you carrying on the good work. Keep it up.

Hi Mike. Would be great if you could share your video settings for the OM-1 Mk II. I’ve struggled a bit finding settings that stay on focus with the subject (used with the 300mm F4 lens and x 1.4 teleconverter). Great video as always!

Great footage. Apparently, the woodpecker's skull is specially designed to withstand repeated blows and to protect the bird's brain from concussion. Unlike other birds, the bones between the beak and the skull are joined by a flexible cartilage, which cushions the shock of each blow.

Always a treat starting the weekend with late morning coffee and a new video from you Mike! I was sceptic to the bird-eye detection but now when I have it , I love it. But I recently set it to of on my OM-1 when I use pro-capture. If there's more than one bird on a treestub and want to nail a bird-fight the focus tend to catch both birds better somehow. One thing I will try out is to follow the bird a little bit when it take of and then press the shutter fully down in pro-capture.Maybee I get more keepers then. But all my braincells are on the shutter so I usualy press right after the bird take of and end up with the one shot with fully wingspread.. Has anybody else thought about trying that?

@5:30 this woodpecker could really use some nicer looking slowmotion. G9II 120/25p nearly 5x slow motion would be really great. OM-1 unfortunately doesn't do this scene justice. I must say as a G9II and OM-1 owner it is hard for me to find usecase where the use of OM-1 would be advantageous to me.
@don_at_large
@don_at_large Месяц назад
To each their own. Mike has shown in earlier video he also uses G9ii for video. Mike has stated he prefers G9ii for video of Birds. On this occasion, seems all he had in hand was OM1-mkii. This footage is brilliant, I believe. A feller uses the tools he has at hand. Really enjoy how Mike swaps back and forth, one camera to the other. Mike does exemplary work that is positively remarkable.
