Dear Friends,
It's been 3 weeks since I came to recce a location that would give me a clear view of the Black Storks nest and today was my first visit proper to start filming them.
A week ago I came up the mountain to recover the trailcams I had placed in the previous video and was happy to see that firstly the storks had arrived back and reclaimed their nest and secondly happy to see some lovely footage on the cams of Roe deer, wild boar, the black stork and a curious Beech Marten.
I left it a week after recovering the trailcams so that the foliage might grow out a little bit to provide me with a bit more cover as the last thing I want to do is scare the storks off the nest especially as the location I'm shooting from is only about 70 meters away from their tree and level with the nest.
Arriving up at my new shooting location I found the female nestled down and not fazed by my arrival on scene. A short while later her mate arrived but frustratingly a technical problem with my drive meant I missed the shot of him flying in and then again when he left.
A few minutes after the female left as well and almost 3 hours later had not returned leading me to believe they had taken the long flight down to the lake to feed.
Out of time therefore I retreated and will return again in a day or two to carry on where I left off.
Hope you enjoy watching..

That was unfortunate! I really hope they will come back and you get the shots soon. It didn't look like you disturbed her, probably the animal below. Good luck. I can feel the heavy bag and stuff while getting there :D

Lovely colours on the stork's neck, are they really there or is that a trick of light? Enjoyed the deer as well on the trail cams. I guess you have to have 'Blind Patience' for all of this; looking forward to next part.

Thanks as always Alan.. and yes.. the colours are real.. they have iridescent plumage but from afar they just look black. 😊

As everyone else said, this video was very interesting and enjoyable. I am also looking forward to watching part 2. Also people should know that black storks are so different to white ones. White storks live among people and are not that afraid. You can be a few meters from them and they will continue with what they are doing. Black storks on the other hand are very skittish as you have already showed us and will fly away immediately when they feel threatened.

Good watch and interesting to see behind the scenes. And how does the wildlife know the exact moment we stop recording to change settings or have a battery /memory card issue so they can do something interesting!? Lol

😂... it's called Murphy's Law..! If you want to make something happen.. do something else and when you're not ready, your hands are full or you're not paying attention... that's when the action will happen..! Thanks as always for taking the time to comment.. g
