Another good movie like this is Naked Lunch. It's one of my favorite films, and i love the book too. If you're thinking of watching it, please look up the trigger warnings first though. It's very disturbing, but it's honestly so good.
I LOVE NAKED LUNCH!!!!! David Cronenberg is a great director when it comes to nontraditional horror and bad dreams. Videodrome is another Cronenberg film that's similar. But damn Naked Lunch is absolutely a nightmare.
the conversations in this video made me think about the reflecting skin, that movie is the first one in sooo long that truly unsettled me deeply, i STILL cant think about that movie without getting deeply stirred up emotionally. captured childhood fear and naivety in such a grotesque situation almost perfectly.
you should watch perfect blue if you havent already. but like consider looking up the triggers first. theres a number of disturbing things in the movie but specifically id like to warn about the SA scene
I know this about film, but please please do yourself a huge favor and read Pale Fire written by the Nabokov, I do believe you'd love it. @pompousunhelpfulnit
Nice video! One film I’d definitely recommend is In the Mouth of Madness. It’s more about fiction impacting reality but it’s got some really good nightmarish sequences
This video is fantastic. Turns out I think this may be one of my favourite genres of film?? Looking forward to working through that letterbox link so I can see the films I haven't seen yet. Great for the spooky season!
Amazing video! A perfect example of a movie that feels like a bad dream is I'm Thinking of Ending Things. The entire movie is so eerie and disconcerting with only vague details to hint at what's really going on. It's also constantly changing to the point where you're not even sure if the main character is actually the main character which I think is pretty genius lol. I would def recommend watching it if you like psychological thrillers
Another Charlie Kaufman film! He also directed three of the films mentioned/shown in this video (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Being John Malkovich, and Synecdoche, New York
Synecdoche, New York and Being John Malkovich are written by the same person as I'm Thinking Of Ending Things, Charlie Kaufman. He's one of the best at really nailing the nightmare energy. Anomalisa is another one by him that really feels like a bad dream.
The Evil Within Natural Born Killers(crazy underrated) Climax Vivarium Alice in Wonderland 1999 Mulholland Drive Cabin in the woods These are my favourite fever-dream-like movies yet. I hope to find more that give me the same feeling.
