A very useful demonstration of using a slicer. However, the bonus was that like so many RU-vid video's, almost every time I view one I pick up little tips along the way. In this video, the little tip I picked up was about grouping dates in excel 2016. So thanks, definitely worth watching.

if I had a month column and week No from 1 to 4Coulmn how to make a pivot table and slicer make me select and filter week no (from 1-4) in a certain month without affecting other months to calculate actual YTD tell the certain date

thanks for your useful video i have a question. how we can comperison sales MTD like your video above but the day we start is them same? example: 1st Jan 2020 is start with Monday 1st Jan 2019 is start with Tuesday we need to compare sales of the first 15 day that start at Monday. Dear Jon, Your video is so understandable and thank you for that! Do you know how to show the data of the same period for different years in a pivot column chart? For example, my data set (sales) is from january 2020 to june 2022. I want to compare the sales of the same period (june 1 to june 20 of the 3 years 2020, 2021, 2022). However, in my pivot table, although I create a filter for date and month and choose the date range (june 1 to june 22), it shows the sales of june 1 to june 22 of 2022 but still of the full month (june 1 to june 30 of the 2 years 2020, 2021). Thank you for your help!

FRUSTRATING QUESTION? I am looking for instruction on how to make a table, that will calculate the percentage of time that aircraft flights are cancelled, based on different categories. For example, 11/1/19, a flight was cancelled for RAIN...then on 11/2/19, a flight was cancelled for CROSSWINDS...then on 11/3/19, a flight was cancelled for VISIBILITY...and so on. I want to create tables / graphs that show, for example, during the Month of NOV, 33% of flights were cancelled due to RAIN, and 27% of flights were cancelled due to CROSSWINDS, and 12% of flights were cancelled for VISIBILITY. PLEASE HELP???

My pivot table doesn't build up the dates. it just lists every single line item that has a different date. All the cells in that column are formatted to Date...not sure how I can filter by Month to compare cost Month over Month.

Hello: Great Video....would it be possible to set the slicer to pick up today's date and filter the data until Today. Hi Riz, Great question! Yes, you can add a column to the source data with the following formula. =DAY(A2)
