I had just got done watching your beeswax playlist and I was going to comment about this way to clean / filter your wax. this is the way we did it when I was growing up. Im glad you showed this way too. I also remember my Grandmother wrapping the dirty wax in several layers of cheesecloth and boiling the wax inside the cheese cloth then pouring the slurry into a container to solidify. I may have to go get me some beeswax and give it a go. Thank you for your videos and you're an inspiration to get out and do something. Thank you again!!
New subscriber here! I've been buying filtered wax, but after seeing your video I may try to find some unfiltered. The process looks like something I can do.
That "dirt" is most likely not dirt but but pollen that got embedded into the wax during collection. Have you ever looked at the pollen granules that you can buy as a food topping??? Might be similar to what you are scraping off!!! Great Video!😁👍🏻
Looks like Ren & Stimpy's ear wax collection lol! You could probably use a few of your high powered flash lights to melt the dirt off the bottom of your wax. Too bad lead wasn't that easy to clean.
I do some candle making for myself and am wondering if you have calculated a cost per lb saving over buying it already filtered. Right now I am paying about $6 a lb for 10lbs of filtered beeswax from Amazon. I know I could save a bit buying direct from a bee keeper but Amazon is so convenient and still much cheaper than retail. Thanks for the show!
have you tried just using plain old coffee filters???🤔 When you're finished with the filter(s), you can just roll it up like a burrito and burn it like a candle!!! Why waste a perfectly good bandanna?!
I have. The flow is much slower. The wax will cool down and stop flowing. I'm not wasting bandana. They clean up with boiling water. Thank you for stopping in
Double boiler not needed as he is adding water directly to the wax to boil. It won't get much above boiling point. Water directly in with the wax helps to also clean & separate debris out during the boiling process. And of course, during cool down, wax is going to naturally separate from the water and float on top. No Mystery There!!!
