In the work place it a male co-worker put his arm around my shoulder, in context it would ok if it something loike comforting me or congratuating. We live in very different world today than 30 years ago. In gay men's communities this would not be a reason to take legal action. Cottaging and sauna clubs were when gay men would meeet gay men and for a brief encounter rather than mastubation. I had many gay friend in the 70s and this was a cultural thing.

This asking for consent was not a thing when he grew up. You may ask someone out or ask them to dance. But you had to figure out if they were interested and make a move. Like try to hold their hand or something. If they were not interested they would move their hand or turn away. Back in the 90s you would be laughed at for asking for consent. Now obviously, I think one would have been wise to be conservative in their advances back then and if they are not interested leave them alone. This business of asking for consent before any advance if very foreign to older people. However, I do think it does take a lot of the pressure off. If it’s considered ok to ask and both sides expect it. Then you don’t have as much pressure to read the situation correctly.

@@Kindcaringsoulgentle we tried to work in team with another producer (with girl in my case) so we always witnessed what was happening at all times. It was back in the 90s but I still know people in the industry and it still happens all the time, and of course some “professionals” accept the advances, so it’s a two way road on this problem and we hear from time to time about “disgraced stars “. All I can say is that there are very few real victims in entertainment industry, it’s a very dirty “meat market” behind the curtains.

He doesn't admit to groping, he admits to being too touchy bur in gentle way when he was flirting. The minor in question was 14 at the time who, by the way, waited for more than 30 years to come up with his allegations, described a very lurid scene taking place in Spacey's bedroom. There were other people at that party too, obviously, and it was found out that the accuser lied and he had to pay 39K to Spacey.

The jury took an hour. That’s how flimsy the case was. He wanted 40 million to ease his pain. Instead he was ordered to pay 40 000 pounds to Stacey.

Yeah, when he broke down in tears and bent over the desk at the beginning of the video, and then all of a sudden quickly raised his head, took a big breath in and sounded calm so ready to move on to explain himself, i thought it was crocodile tears. His voice just didn’t seem all choked up. I had a hard time figuring out this interview as well. I think he was trying to keep anger and exasperation and frustration out of the interview. He did a very long interview with Brent Wootton on Brent’s new RU-vid channel about three weeks ago. I think he was testing the waters. And he did have a lot of flashes of anger there. I thought he came across a lot better there. I mean, it doesn’t matter what decade it is, you don’t grope people. It’s always creepy. They always know they are pushing their advances. I do agree people should speak up if they don’t like it though, not come at a person much later. Unless you’re incredibly fearful of the backlash, like maybe a young lady vs a linebacker alone. But even then, things are gonna happen if you don’t put a stop to it. But it wasn’t appropriate at anytime. And yeah, I am a female who grew up in the 70s and 80s, and oh boy we had to really fend off a lot of stuff and those guys that did it, always knew they were pushing it. A decent guy handled the advances a little bit differently. In fact, if they were lovely and gentleman, it was amazing how far that would take them. Everybody was happy.😉

A lot of things have changed in the past 20 years. With this growing level of acceptance, we're beginning to see how many "straight" men really aren't. Urgh so fed up seeing comments where people wheel out the "not guilty is not the same as innocent" line. Fine. That is 100% correct. However in this case the judge noted that Anthony Rapp was an unreliable and dishonest witness. I followed the trial closely; Rapp conspired with his old pal Adam Vary who at the time wrote for Buzzfeed. They conspired together to release the story without giving Spacey any time to respond to the accusations in any meaningful way. Rapp's recollection of Spacey's apartment at the time was all over the place and incorrect and lots of details he alluded to in the article were made up and under cross examination he admitted as much. Bottom line is a judge and jury of his peers found him _not guilty_ . If you combine this outcome with Rapp's obvious dishonesty it would indicate in a very strong way Spacey's innocence. All the rest is immaterial emotional nonsense. The man was found not guilty. The law is the law. [edited for typos]

Long before these public cases there were rumors in Hollywood of 'be careful or you could end up in Kevin Spacey's basement', something like that I forget the show maybe it was South Park or some animated show like that mentioning it.

The important part of this is that he used the workplace to get actors/men who worked on the set to come to his apartment to "read lines," "come to a party" at his house where he and the other person were the only attendees, "grope them on the set," 'humiliate them," etc. All of these acts are definitions of sexual assault and using his job put him in the position of power over these men.

None of us were there, & we only know what we've been told. So don't be too quick to jump to conclusions lest we be judged. If the inappropriate touching was over clothes, & with people who knew him, or indeed strangers, they only need to rebuke, or deliver a corrective slap to rebuff. I'm not excusing him, but actors are often expected to kiss, express feelings & close proximity intimate touching with colleagues who don't even necessarily like each other. Lines can get crossed & situations misread. Many lead actors have sex with their fellow leads after scenes & feelings become blurred. Offence is subjective. What traumatises one, may be forgotten in 5 minutes by another. Of course Spacey should have kept his hands to himself. But he has been cleared. Actors have stalkers & people with ulterior motives. Unless you were there, withhold judgement. Most of us have been felt up or groped without consent, - it's part of life sometimes, & you just have to be robust about it. As a man, I have had my genitals felt up in clubs by women I've never met. Who saw no problem in sexually assaulting me to find out how hung I was, - even though they hadn't spoken a word to me. I didn't like it. I didn't knock them spark out, & I didn't report them to the bouncers because I knew it would only invite ridicule. I just had to endure it & forget it. If I had groped them back between the legs, I would unquestionably have been dragged outside & arrested. Yet the assault would have been exactly equivalent for me. I decided to frame it as an inappropriate compliment & let it slide. I certainly wouldn't have wanted any of those women to have their entire lives destroyed over it. It was 5 seconds out of my life & theirs.

He was proven innocent on all occasions, Channels 4 payed people tell things about him that didn’t happen, he is innocent, For instance, a man that claimed that Spacey touched his crotch inappropriately sent him friendly emails containing nudes many years after that “incident” supposedly happened, would a person disturbed by another one do that?
