Fimi X8 Mini V2... *Takes a Lickin - Keeps on Tickin* . Remember.. this little bird is held together with super glue in the gimbal and a few cracks in the arms.
Debunks the myth of don't fly when it's snowing. The snow gives a whole new perspective on things, don't you think?
A few things I wish Fimi would enhance in their next "Mini" project..
a) Actually make a real sub 250g drone
b) give it a better connective range &
c) beef up the battery life.
(I dont like the limiting waypoint missions either).
We can all agree that Fimi has been sitting on their hands this past year or so. Development has been at a stand still. Companies like C-Fly Faith, Walkera, Potensic, etc.. are catching up quickly. Wake Up Fimi... before it's all forgotten.
Having said that... when was the last time "Autel" produced anything new???
All in all though... this little bird does alright.

I had a similar noise once a few years back with my Parrot Anafi. In my case, it was a small blade of grass that somehow had gotten into the drones fan area. Once I cleaned out the fan area it was gone . There’s always something when flying drones . Good luck

I had the Pro battery in (which performed very well) That's why I popped up to 200m. In Canada the 120m ceiling is primarily for UAV's over 250g.

@@GorillamansGarage I had a problem with Ali express a while back I had ordered a beast drone. They had The wrong address they sent it to Kentucky got turned around sent back to where ever. Reordered it after The money was refunded. They sent another, made it to Richmond Virginia. After tracking it here. Post office had it 2days. I had to intersept it their. The address wasn't completely filled out on the label. But anyhow. Stuff happens 😀. Keep warm an keep on flying my friend

Had mine for 10 days now and I love it, wish Fimi would implement the telemetry with videos from the sd, maybe with a on/off function.

I'm sure its a PID issue but Hubsan have kind of forgotten about their earlier models (it seems).

@@GorillamansGarage they all forget about previous models as they have our money..... Just odd fimi get a buzzy gimbal line the pids are set high then hubsan, wonder if there's a common code base for the gimbal or some chatting between Devs on both teams. Bit like all those years ago amature builds got the flip of death and a month later DJI also had the issue, not saying they were borrowing community code or anything......

@@lezbriddon : It is very odd , as the Hubsan Mini I have has never had an issue with noise.. it is all of a sudden. I lubricated it and re calibrated and compressed air blew it.. Its a puzzle.

Hi gM, nice to see that crippled X8 Mini V2 flying again. I see that Fimi now has the orange Fimi X8 Mini V2 for $50 less than I paid for it. The orange drone is easy to see in the winter snow compared to the white version. To this date, the X8 SE 2022 V2 has yet to receive USA FAA approval for RID. Frankly, I don't think it will ever get approval.

My Fimi-Mini x8 v2 arrived today. I bought it from Banggood and delivery took about 10 days. I've never had a drone before and don't know how to use it at all, so I'm afraid of doing something wrong. I saw your accident... At the moment it is too windy to try them out.

Go back to my 2nd or 3rd video on the first X8 Mini V1. Its like a Fimi X8 Mini beginners class. I go over everything.

@@GorillamansGarage I've had my first flight now and it was pretty exciting. I flew into a tree twice, just like you did in your accident. the filmi fell from branch to branch and then into the snow. Fortunately, she survived the falls well. I didn't think flying would be so complicated. One question: I didn't found the transparent protector (the small sticker) on the camera... is that normal?

@@hanschenklein7990 : I think on the V1 it had one but on the V2 I noticed 2 pieces of sponge (like earmuffs) on either side of the gimbal that holds the gimbal in place when attached. I would just inspect the whole craft for pieces of paper and stickers. If when you fire up the craft and the image looks clear and you take a short test video before flight.. you will tell if the camera has anything over it. But a close inspection will let you know. These little crafts are a hearty lot.. My Mavic mini has bounced off a few trees as well. Most recently my HZMSE just went haywire and bounced its way through the forest (video to come). 15:11 in the vid you were 208.3 meters,your max allowed is only 120 here in Canada ,its stuff like this is why we have so many rules.

Sorry for the delay in responding... Please refer to the Canadian Rules & Regs for Micro Drones (UAV's under 250g). The X8 Mini V2 with the Pro battery is a sub 250g drone. @@capeRCouple .. Nope.. mine is 245g. See my first video on the V2. I weighed all 3 batteries. The battery the V2 comes with is the heaviest. The only battery that lets any Fimi X8 Mini be under 250g is the Li-Po in the Pro battery. The reg & the Plus batteries are Li-ion and heavier.

Nice video, I really enjoy my MiniV2. I did a similar video with mine and bounced it off the roadway... was in a light snow/freezing fog...I think the sensors iced over. As I was making my descent...it failed to respond to pushing up on the stick, and the drone hit the ground at max descend speed. I did a once-over and flew it immediately after its bounce and still flying great. Do you think the new federal ban on Chinese drones in the USA is the reason for Fimi and others to be slow on new releases?

New releases seem to be fast and furious with Hubsan & DJI.. It's Autel & Fimi who are stalled. Even the budget guys are working hard (Walkera, Potensic, JJRC etc).

@GorillamansGarage Yes I've been following a couple manufacturers and as much as I enjoy the Fimi...I am ready to purchase a larger drone and wanted to explore non DJI options. I'd like something comparable to the Air 2S or Air3. The Autel Lite + is looking like the model to get...prices seem to be all over the place for us Canadians.
