Thanks for posting, it was fun to see it again. Lifelong Gamecock fan, but I definitely have a fondness for Michigan since 1980 when my old man took me to Ann Arbor to see us beat them at home. The Michigan fans were by far the most cordial fans I've ever encountered. They cheered loud for their team but were gracious hosts throughout.
Michigan fan here- mad respect to Thompson. He got nailed several times. Can’t get mad when you annihilate the quarterback but he makes gutsy throws. This was one of the last great non-BCS, non-NCAA title bowl games- lots of NFL players on the field that day.
As a gamecock fan I agree. So much talent on this field and it was a absolutely great game with so many lead changes. It was a classic bowl game. Win or loose this was a awesome. Much respect
I was there in the end-zone when that catch was made by Bruce. Pandemonium is an understatement! What a game! And whoever gets on here saying that it wasn't a great game: you're the reason why people say there's no hope for the human race.
As a michigan fan i was pleased with this game. not that we lost but just to see how far the program has come since the departure of rich rod. we hung with a VERY GOOD SC team with 80% of rich rod players. just wait until jabrill peppers, green, funchess, taco, gardner/morris/speight, darboh, and dymonte thomas are all the field together. im so excited for the future. GO BLUE!
***** you should start bragging about that NC you guys had in 81 when all your players were on roids. Georgia and Clemson fans could switch schools and still get to enjoy their high notes that haven't happened for 30 years. Were you even born when Clemson did ANYTHING worth mentioning?
This rocks!!! I'm a Gamecock to the core, but I have to admit that Michigan was no joke in this game. A worthy opponent who threw the kitchen sink at us. But this is our time to shine. Go Gamecocks!!!
Michigan gave us one hell of a game. Was a real nail biter. I remember the weight lifted off my shoulders when Thompson made the final throw. Go Cocks!
Oh yeah, three words. Strength of schedule. Of course Boise State has a "better" football history than us. They've been playing teams like Wyoming and Air Force for the past 70 years. Nowhere NEAR as challenging as the conferences South Carolina has played in.
Dude, what? They use those to help people differentiate between the schools. Like putting the (OH) after Miami, or using Ill instead of UI. Or, for instance, in college hockey the UND for North Dakota so it isn't confused with Notre Dame's hockey team. Nothing more, the only reason USC (So Cal) got the USC abbrev is because they were more recognizable than So Caro. No offense to So Caro fans, but So Caro is not considered a classic powerhouse football school, like So Cal is. Get it?
2011 BS U beat UGA (SEC Least Champs) by 14 whereas SCAR won by 3 The fact that they've gotten to and won a few BCS games and have only been in the FBS since 2001 is why it's sad that they have a better resume than SCAR, who's had for over 100 years. Their first team was in 1968, not really 70 years by any stretch. I'm not a Boise State fan. It just takes about 30 seconds to look this info up.
"Final 3 minutes" - video time 15:37.. Why dont you all come across and see AFL (Aussie Rules).. Non-stop action all the way to full time.. No stop-start.
I know Clowney had the massive hit, and it was awesome, but player of the game??? LOL. He only had 4 tackes. For all intensive purposes, he was owned by Lewan. Ace Sanders deserved player of the game honors, without question
ugh, this was Michigan worst defensive backfield performance of the year, thats probobly due to JT Floyd not playing in the game, but no excuses, great game
It's a new age. Let's take a look back to 2012, shall we? "USC" went 7-6. In the fucking pac-12. If you go 7-6 in the pac-12, that means you would probably go around 3-9 in the SEC, which is the conference South Carolina went 11-2 in. And about your national championships, the last one was 7 years ago. That really doesn't mean anything now, besides the fact that your 2006 team was pretty good. But news flash, pal, It's not 2006. Get out of the past and into the now.
I will say it once again- common opponents, BCS _wins_, not appearances. They've WON BCS games, not just appeared in them. You have one conference title from 1969. Clemson and Miami beat two premier SEC teams, including the one that beat your sorry team already this year. The SEC isn't that great, man. Just inflated ranks based on names. Meanwhile, the ceiling for SCAR is the Outback Bowl. Your team is a joke, man. I don't like Noisy State, but to deny that they were real is idiotic.
that's not true. there was a court case regarding the acronym and southern cal won. they own the rights to that label. but honestly... who gives a fuck
That's funny coming from a guy who has nothing better to do but get involved in an argument between two "equally pathetic" individuals. LMAO! You might want to check your priorities.
If michigan refs hadnt cheated so bad tge score would have been much worse.. Either way michigan still would not have beaten sc.. U got destroyed in ur opening game vs alabama(sec-45-14) then loose ur last game with cheating to south carolina(sec-33-28) come on now wolverines are not good anymore
Well, a garbage Kentucky team almost beat "one of the top" SEC Least teams. SCAR is crap this year. Everyone in that league forgot how to play defense except UF and Bama, and their offenses suck ass. SCAR doesn't even belong in the top 25.
