Some fine bulldogs (American Pit bulldogs) here. These dogs here are showing folks why bulldogs are mighty fine dogs, why they are so good at this sport, and why this sport is good for them. Weight pulling is a mighty fine sport and activity for these working/purpose bulldogs. It tests, measures, and displays the drive, endurance, flexibility (ability to moving easily), grit, power, and willingness to please that true bulldogs are known for. Bulldogs (APBs) are swell dogs. Not only swell companions, but high drive working/purpose dogs that do their all to serve their masters. The APB is a dog that was designed and used as hunting dogs, butchers dogs, and as warring dogs in the bloodsport of bull and bear baiting. Dogs like APBs are what people would call gripping dogs: dogs that are able to hunt, control, or catch large game by getting a good grip and work to either throw the large beast off balance or hold it in place for the farmer, rancher, or hunter. Like dog expert, author, and breed historian Diane Jessup writes: “First a hunter, then a butcher's dog, then a baiter, then a dog fighter, American Pit Bulls which display behavior typical of their heritage are gripping dogs; they come from a long, long genetic history which dictates they get a hold and HANG ON! This behavior saved their life during the years they were hunting boar, stag and bear, and also stood them in good stead when they moved on to working bulls, bears and other animals in baiting sports. So, it is impossible for the Pit Bull to have been developed from a breed younger than itself. In fact, the English bulldog is developed from the original working bulldog - the Pit Bull. Written Pit Bull pedigrees date into the late 1700's. The history of the Pit Bull far predates the time when bans on bull baiting caused blood sport fanciers to turn to fighting dog against dog."

You mixing up things, the so called pit dogs with APBT, and facts about English bulldog. You forgot to mention the bull and terrier . The Bull and Terrier is a cross between the Old English Bulldog and the various Terrier breeds of England that existed during the 18th and 19th century. The four Bull and Terrier breeds of today are - The American Pit Bull Terrier, the American Staffordshire Terrier, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier and the English Bull Terrier. Also you mentioned somekind of old pitbulls or bull baiting dogs, those could be the alaunts, similar dogs to spanish alano.

That is not what EXPERT Dave Putnam said. And the English BUlldog is not relatd to the American Bulldog. And using a label Pitbull is a synecdoche error@@Swell_Character
