This brings back memories from the 70s one older brother had a maroon 75nova with a350, another brother had a Vega that color. Love the choice of z28 rims, great job!
Your videos have been very helpful. Just got mine back from the paint shop and engine bay. I’m putting all the trim on myself with some help from a buddy! I painted mine Kona pearl blue , also thinking about breaking it up with a stipe of some kind.
Really appreciate the positive feedback Dennis! I’ve been trying to make my videos as instructional as possible! Saw your car on Facebook! Looks awesome! Keep us updated as you go, can’t wait to see the finished product!!
Love your nova I had a 75 hatchback nova 30+ years ago I regret getting rid of it every time I see a nice one like yours thank you for sharing your nova
Came out very nice, one thing I don’t like is the bottom molding on the front windshield where it goes straight across instead of stopping with the side molding,
Paint the lower part of your car gloss black. Front bumper line over the the front wheel about 2 inches then down the body line towards the rear wheel over the wheel line to the rear bumper. Its just an idea.
Very good job my man, I think the only thing I would change is I would put some kind of Black pinstripes on the side, maybe the vinyl pinstripes that has the bow tie in it, Just something to jazz up the bad-ass paint job you put on in and since you black out most of the chrome black just goes with the theme of the car.
I have always loved this last generation of X-bodies (Novas) the best. My preference is the 75-77 Ventura, but these Novas are great too. Man, you've got this one decked out just the way I like with the blacked out grill and headlight buckets. the Z-28 wheels are a super nice touch also. My recommendation for a stripe would be the three-band stripe that was used on the 77-78 Nova Rally option (in black of course). It went along the bottom just above the rocker, and narrowed as it went around each wheel opening. No stripes on the hood or decklid.
Yenko stripes....... I installed a set of 69 Chevelle Yenko side stripes on my 78 Nova. I'm really happy with the way they turned out. I get a lot of compliments. Thanks for sharing you are amazing build. You did it great job.
Love the positive feedback!! Thanks so much. My mind is made up….definitely doing the Yenko stripes! Add that to the winter “to do” list. Look for it in an video this winter.
Dude I've been working on mine 4 years and it's just now sorta on the road. And I seriously mean sorta, cause the thing is sitting in the yard right now out of commission for some interior work. As much as your work on this one has inspired me and helped me understand more about my car, I'm also waning on motivation to keep my project going, and this video is sorta melancholy for me to watch. Bravo on getting yours to this point, it looks like it's fresh off of assembly! I just can't help but peer out at mine, and just feel sorta sad overall.
I hear ya man. Don't give up! Sometimes you just have to walk away for a bit. I started this project in 2011. He took up space in my garage and when it came to bodywork, I just couldn't get motivated! I kinda started this RU-vid channel to make me finish! So much can stall a restoration and get ya down. I know it. If you can throw a driver's seat in yours and drive it like it is, do it! Restore it a little bit at a time. If you're on Facebook, check out several of the different groups that feature our cars. Post pics, ask questions, those guys are great at keeping each other motivated. I'm pulling for ya Gavin! Thanks for watching, and keep me updated!
Find something to motivate you, think of all the fun your going to have in the car with your wife and kids, How that will spark up conversations in the Wal-Mart Parking lot with people you have nothing in common with but they/their parents/Grandparents used to drive back in the day, or how it's going to spark a teen to get into cars and get his/her hands dirty and is in their garage wrenching on some old car instead of out running around and doing god knows what and getting into trouble. There's a million reasons to keep going and get it done.
Enjoying the videos about Frank! Love the Disco Novas, have a 75 that needs this same attention. The 73 will probably get it first though! Thanks for posting!
looks alot like my 72 nova but i had a factory sunroof vinal roof. that slid back. first engine blew so i looked for 3 months for a new engine. found a 70 truck engine 350 hi compression. only ran on premium. had the exhaust cut and put glasspacks on. airshocks and at idle it was quiet till i got on it. i outran a camaro z71 in scottsdale,az. he diddnt know what to think.
I installed the windshield and the glass didn’t have the right depth, so it had to be removed and reinstalled. 🙄 After taking the glass back out, I had to scrape all the glue from the frame. Took a while to get it right. After I was satisfied, I decided to paint the frame black. Once the windshield was / is installed , you could still see some of the green frame from the outside. That was the main reason for respraying the frame black. Great question!
Sadly soon all combustion cars and trucks including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Car washs will be forbidden too because they are climate killers, now they want to slow down all the gas station pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime. (BABVVEN & TEBBVEN laws )
@@threeriverswrench thanks. I have a 77 Nova. Currently no issues with my windshield. Im hoping it is a windshield company that makes windshields. I was hoping to find a company that makes windshield that eliminates the need for trim like for the Camaro and Chevelle.
Brand new v8 springs with one full coil cut off. It was a gamble. I notice A tiny amount of fender rub at the top of the tires over hard bumps. Probably wouldn’t touch at all if I rolled the fender lips a little.
