Thank you for a fantastic introduction to FCP for iPad. I purchased the additional videos and am super happy I did. This is the most in-depth series of videos, a true step by step process to understanding this pro app. I have used FCP on the Mac from version 1. I’m very excited about the iPad version.
Mark, I would not dream of trying to use Final Cut Pro for iPad without purchasing (unlocking) your video tutorials. You and Steve pack a ton of information into extremely well organized and insightful training videos. Ripple Training has and always will be my go to source for FCP training. Thanks you!
Omg man that was an excellent video! Long story short, I have a side hustle as a woodworker and I have my own channel here too. My videos suck I admit. I had an older iPad Pro that didn’t support Final Cut Pro, and darn it heck I had to upgrade! LOL. Now I’m teaching myself how to put together better content. THANK YOU!!

You packed a huge amount of information into this tutorial. Although I am sticking with FCP on a Mac, it was fun to see the possibilities of editing on an iPad. I am wondering about beyond having an M1 or M2 chip in the iPad, what other specs are needed to make the iPad functional for this program.
An excellent start for learning this app. I'm already a FCPX user on Mac, but there are differences and I am keen to be able to create away from home. Question: I am very happy to pay for your full lessons but would like to access these on my iMac as I watch and use my own projects on the iPad at the same time, something I can't do if it is all on the iPad. Is this an option please?
@@skyking95 Prediction: those who do not like subscriptions will look harder at Luma and Resolve. Once/ if these adapt this nasty pricing model, users are forced to ditch 2 of the 3. Subscriptions are long term only viable for the few big ones. At the end it will be selection among your software usage plan, transport miles plan, electronics recharge plan and calorie intake plan. A quick question: How did you achieve the dot that shows what you are doing on the iPad? I've tried to do it in accessibility but it doesn't give you an option to slide, just tap. Please help. Great content by the way!
Outstanding tutorial video sir. How do you do a voiceover in the Final Cut app like you can in the desktop version?? Also, how can you combine / sync video / audio clips like in the desktop version?? Thank you
Is it possible to use the Storyboarding and Magic Movie features in iMovie to create a video, then import it into FCP for more detailed editing and finishing work? I noticed that iMovie now allows for direct project import into FCP, so I was wondering if this would be a feasible and streamlined workflow.
@@flairish12 Final Cut has to import to the internal storage. So you can access your external drive, but only for importing to the internal storage in order to edit.
I feel Mark has been demoted to the iPad because Apple did not do a great deal of updates with Motion. Sorry I enjoyed FCPX and Motion 12-15 years ago, but now Davinci resolve leads the way. Even the latest mask effect from Apple is not useful compared to the Magic Mask.
The ratio in views between this video and Steve's Final Cut Pro (Mac) update video tells you all that you need to know... there's FAR more interest in the Mac version than an iPad version. Also, I wonder why they flipped the Browser and Viewer compared to the real Final Cut Pro. They should've gone all the way and put the timeline on top.
Um....there are millions of existing FCP for Mac users out there who may want to know what's in the update vs. a brand new product that nobody has ever seen - we fully expected much more traffic for the Mac video vs. the iPad video in the short term.
Hey Guys…when you import footage into FCP from the Files App or Photos App, does it duplicate the footage or leave it in place? Also, how do you delete a project? Thanks:)
Thanks for the tutorial but I am done with Apple and FCPX. They have demonstrated that they don’t care for FCPX users. By releasing an update (not a new version) that breaks plugins without having the courtesy for plugins developers and respect for users to have a heads on to be able to address those issues and help users avoid problems they demonstrate that they don’t care. So, so long Apple.
I upgraded from my 2020 iPad Pro to an M2 get this and I am very disappointed. It’s barely better than iMovie and LumaFusion is way better. I hope you can prove me wrong.
I do feel like they REALLY missed the mark with this - Its essentially a stand along APP that actually has less features at the moment than some of the other NLEs for iPad. Not being able to round trip with the Mac is where it completely loses me - what really is the point then? If I have to spend as much on an M1 iPad as a MAC - that will run it - then I have to PAY for third party plugins again - because they are not compatible (ripple title-mations is a MUST - but sorry guys - Im NOT buying it TWICE!!). Then add in the fact that you cant use an external drive - and this is really REALLY way off the pipe dream of - "Start a project on the go and finish it seamlessly at home - or vice versa" - literally every ACTUAL USE of this kind of gets negated when it can't round trip with the Mac - if you want to live iPad only then I guess this is cool - but who wants that?? That's not even old-dinosaur talk - no one wants that!!
I've actually found it quite useful for starting a project in the field, being able to edit on the trip home, no need for full laptop, then finish in edit suite on the Mac. But I also would love to be able to go both ways.
Can't use an external drive? Are they on crack? Apple HQ must be a brain cell vacuum. How do you import your footage? Do they just expect everyone to only shoot on the iPad or their iPhone? This is for children.
@@rippleguys that’s cheap for TV news. I can easily do that in iMovie of FPC X. I can also add the music I want however getting the music to form to your project is very cool. I will wait for updates.
On top of subscription the official in-app tutorials are paid for? I was one of those who could justify subscription through my business but, this really isn’t “Pro” at all. Apple are pandering to inclusion and patronising anyone who has an iPhone to believe they can be pros. Unfortunately the free month should be enough time for the novelty to wear off. My Apple history goes back to 1989, but sadly “Think different” has turned into think corporate greed.
The bulk of the tutorial is completely free and is enough to get you up to speed on the product. The small fee we ask for buying the rest of the tutorial compensates us for our work in creating it.
@@markspencer1203 You absolutely should be compensated for your sterling work. Apple should be paying you. There’s a good chance people will buy new iPADS just to access these apps, I did. Granted Davinci resolve will be where I spend most of my professional time. Where does it end with this money trail?
