When you "Duplicate Project As..." you have the ability to do "Smart Conform" from that window too! But glad they have a back-up option under "Modify" in case you forget to click that button when duplicating. Your video was helpful. Thank you!
Thanks Kevin!! I'm new to FCP but a long time iMovie user and have been overwhelmed with the upgrade. So glad I found your channel! Not only for the FCP help but your other content is right up my alley. Thanks for doing (Helping) what you do!!
Thank you so much. Glad you're liking what you see and thanks for letting me know. Think as you go, you'll see using iMovie for a bit can help you with FCP too.
By far the best video I found on this subject. Didnt realize it was so easy convert my projects to vertical videos for shorts/reels! Made my first vertical video for my project today. Thanks!
Another FAB video for us newbies Kevin, I so appreciate you explaining things so simply and quickly for beginners. I've seen a few videos now in this space and yours are just so easy to follow along with, I'm binge watching them all!! Thanks so much for sharing them, this is exactly what I needed 👌
You're welcome, I've spent 2 years making videos on iMovie and was told FCP was the easiest to transition to and level up. It's been quite the challenge!! Your content has been great and as a fellow RU-vidr, I appreciate the time you've taken to create them. @@KevinKolbe
i got excited after watching this video, only to go to final cut pro and mine doesn't have the option to "duplicate project as" it only has "duplicate project" and "duplicate project as snapshot" this crazy lol
I knew someone would have a tutorial on this! Or rather, I hoped! I'm just about to embark on a project converting clips from 16:9 videos into shorts. This is gloing to make it so much easier...thanks!
Great tips, thank you. For someone just getting into creating RU-vid Shorts, this was super helpful! Do you have a tutorial for adding text effects and/or animations to videos in Final Cut Pro?
Super cool. Thanks for letting me know and welcome to the world of FCP! Check out this playlist with a lot more FCP videos: ru-vid.com/group/PLMbt3nj33n2EyVQdgkTb1VGXbV1PHgBPr
Yes! Thank you so much, your video really saved me so much time and helped immensely with what I was trying to do. Needed it to turn some old video into a vertical short, and fill the screen. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!
Amazing video. One question that I struggle about vertical timeline, videos I shot is 16:9 and there is sometimes people walking from left to right side. I scaled the video to fit vertically but position of the video is never correct, for this reason I keyframe all the movements and it is taking ages. Is there an easy way to track an object in the video just horizontally if someone walking or moving left to right so they will stay centered ?
Appreciate the comment and great question. That my friend is one drawback I've found with converting a shot that was made for 16x9 to fit perfectly in a vertical container. Couple of ideas: 1) Cut it - if possible - to show a quicker transition from someone going left to right. Might be too jumpy but an idea. (Then again it is a Short video!) 2) Keep it wide in the vertical window and create an effect behind this. I do this sometimes if whatever I'm showing just can't go total vertical. Not ideal but an idea.
Thanks for this video. I'm trying to do that in my project right now and the Smart Conform is grayed out so I can't click on it. What am I missing? Thanks!
great video dude, one question. Do you have an overlay you use to ensure the text doesn't clash with the like, comment buttons and your name tag below? That would be ideal as that would help massively
