Final Cut Pro X - COMPLETE Tutorial for Beginners! 

After learning editing on Lumafusion moving to FCP is incredibly frustrating, after more than 40 hours trying to figure out how to do simple things like adding videos to projects or trying to understand why do I need events and projects being an old school gamer I broke 3 mouses. I bought this thing about 4 years ago, gave it a try got super disappointed (on myself) turned it off and never touched it again. After some time I found out about LumaFusion and decide to learn the ropes there. The learning curve was more like a learning slide because things were very easy to pick up, everything makes sense and is intuitive. Great? Nope, even though FCP has way, way more options and possibilities I can’t learn how to use it. I tried to edit the same small video on each one and in lumafusion after 45 minutes it was done, on FCP after 10 hours I gave up not even close to one quarter of the editing. $300 dollars burned to ashes, sorry about my complaining… so frustrating 😢

My best tip would be keyboard shortcuts! They speed up your workflow so much and you don't have to spend that much time setting them up. I specifically like "C" for cut and "F" for delete because then you can keep your left hand on the keyboard and your right hand on your mouse.

0:19 I was actually just curious if there was going to be another tutorial pronouncing it Final Cut Pro EX. lol.😂 Always gets me when I hear people pronounce Mac OS X as “OH Es Ex” or Logic Pro X as “Logic Pro Ex”. The X in Apple’s branding is a Roman numeral. You pronounce it as “TEN”. “OS TEN”, “Final Cut Pro TEN” (although Apple just brands it as Final Cut Pro now). 😂

Question: Somehow my audio bar and video bar were separated. I don't know how this happened, but I don't like it! How can I get the two back together?

Hi Justin, thank you for another excellent tutorial. I'm having trouble figuring out how to perform the Ripple Edit Right ( Option [ ) OR Ripple Edit Left ( Option] ) on my Mac. Could you please guide me on how to access the square brackets shortcut? (Option + Option + 5 doesn't seem to work...) Additionally, I've noticed that there is always a gap between clips when I use the Blade tool. Is this a common issue or am I missing something? I recently switched from Premiere to Final Cut because I couldn't bear the payment model of Adobe any longer. This is my first time using Final Cut, so I appreciate your assistance in navigating the software. Thank you for your time and keep up the great work!

@Primalvideo Another thing I found in Final Cut Pro to help audio for the primary footage is using audio cross fades. If you cover this in another Final Cut Pro tutorial, I think this is a really good tip. Great video, since I’m eventually planning on using LumaFusion and Final Cut Pro together.

Which spec MacBook Pro do you recommend for 4k - 5.6k editing ? How much ram and which cpu (m2 pro or m2 max) how many gpu cores and display size you recommend? I use the with Sony a7s iii and Fx3 cameras. I use adobe premiere and fcp and after effects

Regarding the title you added at 10:00 mark, you have a black shirt on and it looks good. What do you do/recommend if the image/background is lighter or busy. What's best way to get text to pop for better visibility?

I im currently editing my dji mavic 2s footages on the macbook pro m1, 16ram and 1tb. Any time i move my footages to my time line to edit, the quality of the footages drops significantly!! So i can't edit or colour grade poor footages. Is it a codec problem? Can someone help?

I used the Blade Tool to cut a section of video and then delete the section of video the same way you did in this video but it leaves a gap and it does not reconnect together to form a whole video again like it does when you do it in this video. What am I doing wrong?

I have had FCPX for many years and managed to stumble through it creating audition tapes (I'm an actor), but found a lot of it baffling and the symbols counterintuitive. BTW is it possible to edit MP3 audio files on this? I'm not technically savvy, and about to start creating audio files, podcasts, etc. Trying to create decent quality while keeping the system as simple as possible.

Hey Justin.. really enjoy your videos. I've been using Imovie for about 5 months. I'm thinking relatively soon it may be time for me to upgrade. I've already run into situations where imovie is limiting me (i.e., can't easiy move the text in titles around, can't have more than 2 videos/photos in the timeline, and I think there are things like being able to lock tracks in place.. so as you make edits it doesn't mess up other things in the timeline). I'm already interested in some of the plugins. What are some of the most important things i'm missing out on in Imovie. Thanks..
