Final days and Tragic Ending of the Original Teen Idols Troy Donahue.
Troy Donahue was an American actor born on January 27, 1936, in New York City. He began his acting career in the late 1950s and quickly became a heartthrob for his good looks and charming personality. Donahue appeared in a number of popular films throughout the 1960s, including "A Summer Place," "Parrish," and "Rome Adventure." He also made guest appearances on several television shows, including "Hawaiian Eye" and "The Love Boat." Despite his early success, Donahue's career began to decline in the 1970s, and he struggled with personal and financial problems. He passed away on September 2, 2001, at the age of 65.

I've followed Troy Donohue's career, from its beginning in the late 1950's! After seeing him in t.v.'s, "Surfside Six" & "Hawaiian Eye", plus his starring western movie role in 1964's, "A Distant Trumpet", I thought that I was looking at a new "Superstar"! However, Donahue worked for Warner Bros. studios, who were renowned for paying their actors low salaries, plus his addictions led to a lifestyle, that he couldn't continue to afford! It was a sad ending to a potential career that could have led to a great future!

@@catherinec.briggs613 I used to work across from ABC Studios NYC Hdqts. in the late 1960's & saw various actors, including Lee Patterson, co-star to Troy on "Surfside Six"! When I told my girlfriend (now wife) about this, she was so disappointed that it wasn't Troy Donahue!/ In 1963, I actually was onboard the houseboat, used in the show's start, in Miami Beach!

He was most😅😅 popular in tne 50s and early 60s. His name and face kept coming up on tv. His youth and good looks are what sold him just Tab Hunter and Ty Hardin. When you got physical beauty and great eye appeal that will sometimes get you just as far as real talent and brains. The problem with it though it soon fizzles out as calendar pages keep turning. But you shine bright when you are in your prime!
