My heart breaks for all of you regarding your Papa Bill but love how you are so intentional in spending time there, helping them out and visiting. I look forward to your weekly vlogs. They bring me so much joy with the joy that embedded within. I have fond memories from my childhood as well of going to my cousins' farm. I noticed how Ally organized the peaches and could relate to that. I see you in her. Rhett is adorable and love to hear him talking and signing "please." Loved going to my grandparents, taking my children to farm.We were able to help with chores,ride horses,and swingonthe porch,and rock in big rocking chairs on porch.Remember stringing beans,and shelling peas.We always created a play house.My grandmother made the best fried apple,and peach pies.My grandchildren got to grow up on my aunts farm.We always went to her house each summer for cookout,and games.Nothing like being on a farm.Kids get out,and use their imagination.
Yep time is short... them being in their 80s, let's say they have 5 good years left/ visit them 3Xs a year that is ONLY 15 days (or 30 if 2 day stays) that have left to see them... But everyone has their own lives to live
This is a very close family. There are 19 children most are married or they are adults, and they love papa bill and mama Jane. They all take turns visiting the farm and it’s not just a weekend. Plus the entire family or at least those who can come together and visit as a group several times a year as well as Nathan has flown them up to Tennessee to visit. They see each other far more than you have indicated. This visit was a week.
Alyssa nothing but praise for you taking the last of your summer with the kids, to help your grandparents. Visiting and doing all you can to help Mama Jane and Papa Bill, appointments and whatever need’s doing. We all see your love devotion to your whole family. God bless ❤
Yeah i remember how chaotic it was when they bates kids were all young and how the grandparents said it was overwhelming so I can’t imagine what it’s like now with all these grandkids!
Hi, I have been following your videos for a while, and I see how hard it is with your grandpa's memory suffering. I wanted to offer what help I can besides prayers. Often times dementia is related to vitamin B12 deficiency. This is especially prevelant in older men. I had an uncle with pretty severe dementia, and supplementing with vitamin B12 did him a world of good. Just wanted to share. :)
I just love how the farmhouse has colours and it's not dull white like professional settings. It feels like a home, cozy, serene, warm, comfy and beautiful.

Our family would do that so us kids could have individual time with my great grandparents and I’m so thankful for that. We had that one on one time without a crowd. We were in Florida also and our family was in Colorado so it was hard for us to get out when everyone else was there due to my parents work schedules.
This is so precious and sweet-it brings tears to my eyes! Sometimes it seems like grandparents are gone before we know it; wish I could see mine again. My grandpa was a maintenance man on orange groves in Florida and my grandma (his second wife) was a hardworking woman; among her other duties she sometimes worked in an orange packing house. My grandfather was born in 1894 and was drafted into World War I. (I was born in 1957, which explains what generations we were from). My husband’s grandparents owned a farm in Pennsylvania, which I had the privilege of visiting several times. Time seemed to stand still on the farm; I would love to experience that again! My throat is tight from the nostalgia of seeing this. In the future your children can watch this video and perhaps recapture the feeling of being there. Your girls are lovely, and Rhett has turned into a little man with his walking and talking. I know your grandfather has memory issues, but I had to chuckle when he asked who all those kids were! It’s great that you could go and help your grandparents, and also film them and their home. Thank you, and I will be watching this over and over!😊❤

One my regrets is not getting more of my grandparents talking about their family and their memories recored . You are very blessed to still have yours alive .
She has several of her sisters and brothers visit her frequently in Florida and recently a bunch of her family came the girls group birthday party. I think that is nice of her to come when not the whole bunch is there. She unselfishly misses out on seeing them so she can then come later to help out with their practical needs (eg. Doctor's appointments, cleaning house, etc.) She has come before just to help out her grandparents with cleaning, etc. Plus she had a new baby during the last year. A very nice granddaughter, not to say the others aren't also.

With a family as large as yours, it is great that you all went and had one on one time with them…. Zoey may always remember riding a bike for the first time at the farm with Papa Bill and Mama Jane. Peach picking and waiting for them ripen another memory…Hose playing to cool off…a super fun memory. Sad, Macey and Rhett might not remember them. But thankfully you are videoing to be able to show them as they grow up so they will know your grandparents.

Yes that is a wonderful thing they all come and help them... My grandma (who has early dementia) had 16 grandchildren (minus cousin that died and my bro is in Kuwait) and I'm pretty much the only one that often helps or visits her.. I don't do that "everyone is busy", Nope If There Is a Will There Is a Way..
