Finally! A fight against Vincent Valentine-or his monstrous, chaotic form, the Galian Beast.
Cloud and the others first encountered Vincent Valentine at Shinra Manor during their visit to Nibelheim. Equipped with bestial reflexes and chaos magic, the battle against the Galian Beast proved to be quite a challenge.
Thankfully, the Galian Beast is weak against Fire Magic, so it's best to equip that Materia to Cloud or someone who's a heavy hitter. In my case, I gave it to Barret since the Galian Beast deals rapid strikes at close range and area-of-effect attacks, similar to his Somersault Kick and Primal Roar, respectively. Therefore, keeping a distance is advisable.
After his first Staggered phase, the Galian Beast strikes more brutally. Inflicting enough damage will Pressure him again, and it’s best to strike him with offensive Synergy Abilities or even Limit Breaks if you have one ready. Unleash a Summon; in my playthrough, I used Phoenix, as it could revive fallen party members and deal Fire damage to the Galian Beast.
Near his second Staggered phase, the Galian Beast’s HP should be low enough that he can be easily defeated with a Limit Break or two, or even a Weapon Ability.
Enjoy the additional cutscenes featuring Vincent after the fight, and pray that you have a pleasant experience fighting him again in Hard Mode.
